Occidentium

Occidentium is the smallest of the three kingdoms of Saxony. Diederick Stein rules it much the same as he does everything else, demanding absolute control and efficiency. Though not a warlike people, they certainly seem not to mind doing battle. The people too seem happy for the most part under Diederick Stein’s rule despite his cold nature, perhaps it’s fear of him that keeps them in check or perhaps it’s because he has been able to lead the kingdom to flourishing despite its lesser stature and resources.

Military

While the land based military is not of particular note - though even they are not a force to be trifled with - their naval fleet is quite possibly the strongest force on the island of Saxony.

Technological Level

Occidentium is the most technologically advanced kingdom in Saxony. With the country being so highly educated and Diederick Stein always pushing for more development and research, it seems that powerful new inventions emerge every day.

Religion

Though not a very religious people, they follow the church so long as it suits them. They don’t persecute the descendants of the Old Races despite the wishes of the Grand Church.

Foreign Relations

At one point, Occidentium maintained close relations with Meridionalia though that relationship crumbled with the death of Diederick Stein’s wife and Alvina Curtis’ sister, Isabella. The kingdom is also locked in a struggle with Septentionalium over the Southern Isles which continues to rage despite The Shaking of Three Hands. Diederick Stein also maintains good relations with the Grand Church though it is also clear that, with provocation or if they stand in the way of his aims, he will gladly go to war with them too.

Education

The people of Occidentium are a well-educated people, especially for the island of Saxony. Thanks to Diederick Stein’s campaign to establish schoolhouses in even the smaller major villages, most of the kingdom has access to learning. Even the poor.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure of Occidentium is immaculately maintained. Aqueducts, roads, even rudimentary sewage systems are all implemented and regularly updated with modern building techniques. In fact, the kingdom is so well maintained that there is even a saying about Occidentium that goes “Even the shit sparkles as gold”.

Diederick Stein and his small group of trusted advisors make all the rules for the kingdom. Were Occidentium any larger, it likely would collapse due to this practice. However, Diederick has been careful not to expand his land further than what he can control and defend, a practice which has also lead to the lower population and size of the country.
