Grand Church

The Grand Church was established shortly after Lord King Eastaughffe drove off the Old Races. They are strict adherents of The New Ways, enforcing its practise throughout the lands of Saxony with near impunity.

Structure

The Pope is the head of the church, making any major decisions himself and having full control over the Church’s military. Below him are the bishops who handle matters of lower concern and, below them, are the priests who offer guidance and absolution to the constituents of the church.

Public Agenda

The church was established to spread The New Ways in Saxony and further deteriorate the old Magicks of the land.

Cosmological Views

As per the teachings of the New Ways, the Grand Church teaches that the world was created via the sheer will of The One Above All. They also claim that Men were created as a distillation if that same will and that they are the purest representation of The One Above All.

Ethics

The Grand Church warns against a great many sins, some of which are well within reason. Such sins include thievery, unprompted violence, and political corruption. Numbering among the major sins also exists buggery, withholding finances from the church, unexcused absence from church proceedings, and practise of The Old Faith.

Worship

There are several avenues of worship within the Grand Church. One such avenue is in service to the divine militia, the Grand Church’s military force. Once of age, all able-bodies residents of Saxony are expected to participate in this military whensoever they are called upon though the mandatory service can not exceed more than two years. Beyond that, sinners and beggars alike may devote themselves to the military for lifelong service, gaining distinguishment and honour for their sacrifice.   Constituents are also expected to attend local worships at least once per moon and to pay pittance to the Church worth at least one half of what they pay to their government.

Political Influence & Intrigue

Since the death of Lord King Eastaughffe and the fracturing of his kingdom, The Grand Church has agreed not to lend military aid to any singular kingdom. They have, however, been known to lend financial aid to lords whom they favour, an aid of great benefit and power.
