Winur Shrine
The Winur Shrine is a religious dedicated to the God of the Earth, Cadis. The building has stood here about twice as long as the rest of the village, and is the only one built entirely of stone.
It is currently under the stewardship of the watchful Prioress Milread.
While there is an inn in The Tipsy Swan, for those who have no money, they would instead find temporary steading here. The Prioress would ask for in return that they perform some duties towards the maintenance of the Shrine, such as polishing the metalworked symbols, replacing candles, or something more skilled if they have a trade.
The Prioress doesn't maintain the Shrine alone, and has 3 Acolytes who live in the village who regularly clean, and help her with the weekly prayer services.
Purpose / Function
This shrine was originally built as a place for travellers to make prayers to Cadis on their travels between Nigdage and Grayhost. While there were a handful of farms within the local area around the shrine, a village formed within 60 years.
Alterations
Before the construction of the surrounding building, all that lay here was a small hut with a carved stone altar. Since those days the Shrine itself has been a wooden building, which burned down in an accident involving candles and flammable sacramental oils, only to be rebuilt in stone and tile, the only stone building in the village.
The stone altar, however, is the same one that existed before the first wooden building was constructed, however many metal trinkets have been added as the years went on.
