Cor is born to Kath (a cardinate) and Leo (a scion) and automatically made an scion. Neither of his parents is permitted to know who he is.

Cor's birth is mainly significant because he is the son of a scion and a cardinate. Thanks to the former, there was a lot of fuss over his birth, and his parents were both almost executed. It took a lot of finagling by his grandparents to save their lives.   Actually was a lot of illegal stuff going down. Leo's father should not have known who was in trouble, and definitely shouldn't have been intervening, but he did anyway. It was a huge scandal.   When the dust settled, there were just enough scion boys born around that time period that no one was entirely sure which one was the problem child, and the matter was soon forgotten by most people anyway.
