The Armunak Uprising

Charles Armunak, after having gained support from both the nobility and peasentry of Gloomhearn with a questionable claim to the throne he and his army murdered Duke Ahara Illustrian and, with the exception of his youngest daughter; Olysia Illustrian, his entire family.   They then marched south. Many of the villages along the way joining; whether they liked it or not. The march was quick and continued until they arrived in Riftwind, the first major settlement along their march.   Charles Armunak had become so convinced of the rightousness of his quest that is had not occured to him he would not be welcomed into the walls of the city. He was not. They locked their gates and told him where to stick his so-called royal claim.   Incensed he ordered his army to attack, and they did, they slaughtered the citizenry and took the city.   By this time King Eyondis Karmaline III were within three days march. On arrival at Riftwind he performed a brutal strike and crushed Charles Armunak's within a few days. Charles and his closest associates fled back to Gloomshire, and went into hiding in the Gloombriar forest. The king led the march to secure Gloomhearn and reinstate the Illustrian Duchy by naming Olysia Illustrian the new duchess of the region.   From there he led the search for Charles Armunak, brutally slaughtering anyone he suspected of being his followers. He was eventually discovered in the summer of 3227 A5. King Eyondis Karmaline III had him brought back to the capital where he was publicly flayed alive and left tied up in the royal square of Evvorgard to be gradually eaten by crows. He died of shock only a few hours after the flaying, but the message was clear.
