Evvorgard
Evvorgard is the capital city of Evermere.
It began life like many cities do, but as it expanded outwards it began to run out of space on the high bluff it occupies, and instead continued upwards, creating the gargantuan, towering citadel it is today. The buildings are mostly gothic in style, with grey and black stone, vaulted arches and ornate decorative reliefs.
It can be impossible to tell where one building begins and the next ends; towers seemingly growing from the side of each other, linked to others surrounding it by large sky bridges, arches and columns. Beautiful plazas and parks throughout sit atop large halls, academies and civic buildings. It is often said as a joke, but there may very well be a hint of truth to it, that if you removed any one building; even the smallest tower or home, the whole place would begin to collapse
Even those that live there only really know the paths they use to get around the labyrinth of roads, alleys, tunnels, stairs, ladders and elevators, as its ever changing, 3-dimensional nature renders accurate mapping practically impossible. Guides are respected and well paid individuals, if they are good anyway; demand is high as even the locals use them regularly.
Laws:
Due to the nature of the towering city even accidental damage to the buildings and foundations can be punished extremely harshly. The use of evocation magics, as well as forms of alchemy and artifice which could cause structural damage, are strictly prohibited throughout, carrying with it hefty fines and possible prison sentences.
Any alterations to the structure of any building must be undertaken only after express permission from The Grand Architects has been given.
