Church of the Wheel

  • Solisar and Erebus are the primary deities of the Church of the wheel, seen as the gods of the lifecycle.
  • Sometimes other gods are worshipped alongside and there is usually considered to be a pantheon of 10 gods (most commonly the other 8 are Kur-loh, Aquas, Auria, Gaia, Dollus, Suda, Dullahan and Yinyidra
  • They are the most common Faith in Thaeria, and are the primary faiths of Evermere and Andoria .
The Church of the wheel, commonly abbreviated to wheelers. Have grand and lavish churches, especially in Andoria . They can vary greatly in size, shape and extravagance and the only consistent feature is the dais with the statue of Manaia on it, a 10 armed humanoid female. On either side of her are statues of Erebus and Solisar, each with one of her hands resting on their shoulder. Each of the other hands is upturned with open palms, and contain a symbol which represents one of the other 8 that the particular church represents as a Demiurge (bowl of water for Aquas, or a lit lamp for Kur-loh for example)   The church is very wealthy, perhaps the most wealthy organisation in Thaeria. The Cardinals of the churches hold great sway within the capitals and it is likely, if not certain, that it is their mediation that has prevented war between Evermere and Andoria several times over the millennia.
Church Organisation
The church is split into 3 core sects, each containing many jobs and titles. Typically a member of the church may well move around within their sect, but it is rare for them to change completely. All of these are ruled over by the 12 Cardinals which are spread throughout Thaeria.   The Clergy
The Clergy are the face of the church. They are the deacons, priests and bishops that preach their faith to the people, and are the peoples means of contact with the church. They are normally referred to as father or mother by their flocks.   The Cloistery
The Cloistery is the mind of the church. They are the cloistered monks and clerics of the order, they are the administrators, historians, archaleogists, book keepers, and scientists who work in the background to keep up the day to day functions of the church and to pray, study and research. They hold no rank as such and are all referred to as brothers or sisters.   The Inquisition
The Inquistion are the hands, eyes and ears of the church, and they are the ones that bring it's physical strength to bear when violence, or at least the threat of it, is needed. They inform the other sects of social and political goings on, and deal out divine justice to sinners and to any dangers that threaten their flocks. The main branches are the paladins (holy warriors and healers), exorcists (experts in undead and demonology) and excursors (political representitives and, for lack of a better word, spies ). They often attend regiments in wars (as long as they are sanctioned by the church) as healers and support for the frontline troops. Sometimes they are simply referred to by their vocational title (i.e. Paladin), but within the faith they are referred to as brother or sister.
