General Information:

Archetype and Culture:
Discount Germans, Prussians, Holy Roman Empire - Saxony's culture is also marked by a strict adherence to hierarchy and order, with the common people knowing their place and being content in it, as long as they are protected by their betters. The Saxons have a strong sense of duty to their nation and their leaders, and they do not tolerate dissent or insubordination within their ranks. They value discipline and loyalty above all else, and those who exhibit these qualities are rewarded with promotions and honors. Their religion is heavily influenced by their history and culture, with a focus on martial prowess and the glory of victory. They worship Martius as their patron God, and their priests are often former soldiers who have retired from active duty. They believe that Martius created humanity to be the dominant race in the world, and it is their duty to fulfill this destiny by conquering and subjugating all other races. Saxony is a nation of great wealth and power, with a strong economy based on mining and industry. They have vast iron mines and are renowned for their weapons and armor, which are exported to other nations for a high price. They are also known for their engineering feats, building great castles and fortifications to protect their borders and projecting their power across Europa. However, this wealth and power has also made them arrogant and dismissive of other nations, leading to tensions and conflicts with their neighbors.

History:
Saxony was the industrial base of the elven empire during the Age of Apostasy. Despite harsh working conditions, the Saxons learned the elven secrets and bided their time until Martius emerged as their savior against the elves. The Saxons fought with tenacity and discipline during the Devastation, playing a crucial role in defeating the elven empire. The battles were intense, bloody, and traumatizing, with the Saxons emerging as brutal conquerors and genocidal perpetrators against non-human races. The Age of Armistice saw the Saxons focus on rebuilding their nation and expanding their borders with their military might and industrial power. Their belief in human supremacy and past atrocities left them with few friends in Europa, and they found themselves increasingly isolated and reviled by their neighbors. In the current year of the setting, Kaiser Hermann rises to power after his bigoted father was saved from a cult of Martius plot by the heroes of Europa. Hermann recognizes the past wrongs committed by Saxony against its neighbors and is actively trying to repair those wrongs, even considering the possibility of being more open to non-humans. However, Hermann faces opposition from his advisors and military, who remain firmly devoted to traditional Saxon values of human supremacy.

Client Race:
The Humans of Saxony have a long and tumultuous history marked by oppression, struggle and rebellion. They were the most oppressed and enslaved humans during the Age of Apostasy, forced to work from a young age in the coal and iron mines of the elven empire, and used as expendable labor to fuel the elven industry. This era of servitude and subjugation created a deep-seated hatred for the elves and all non-humans, and it was this resentment that led to their rise as the mighty sword of Martius. Armed with his vengeance, armor and weapons given to them by the gnomes, the humans of Saxony fought the bloodiest and fiercest battles against the full might of the elven empire. They were tempered in blood, steel and flames, and emerged as a machine of war, bent on obtaining vengeance against all other races, even turning to genocide against non-humans. This bloodlust was halted only when Martius was imprisoned and his influence on their minds dissipated. After the fall of the elven empire, the humans of Saxony became a powerful nation, one that believed in the purity and supremacy of the human race. They considered themselves the only nation still remembering their past and the many wrongs committed against them. As such, they continued to hold onto their hatred for non-humans, forcing them out of their lands or into servitude. This policy led to a great deal of strife with all of their neighbors, who saw their actions as barbaric and relics of a horrible history. Despite this dark past, the people of Saxony have persevered, and their history has given them a strong sense of identity and pride. Their military remains the finest fighting force in all of Europa, with each soldier well-trained and well-armed. They work hard and play hard, and are a proud people who take pride in their nation's history and their role in shaping the future of Europa.

Leader:
Kaiser Hermann's youth and impulsive nature are tempered by his strong sense of duty to his people and his willingness to lead by example. He has a deep respect for the traditions of Saxony and its people, but is not afraid to challenge them if he believes it will benefit the nation in the long run. This has earned him both the admiration and ire of his advisors, who see him as both a breath of fresh air and a potential liability. Despite his relative inexperience, Hermann is a natural leader and inspires great loyalty in those around him. He is able to connect with his people on a personal level, listening to their concerns and taking action to address them. He is also a skilled warrior, having trained from a young age in the military schools of Saxony. He has been known to personally lead his troops into battle, rallying them with his courage and charisma. As a ruler, Hermann faces many challenges, not least of which is the tension between Saxony and its neighbors. He is well aware of the threat that his nation's militaristic and isolationist policies pose to Europa as a whole, and is determined to find a way to coexist peacefully with the other nations. However, he is constantly pressured by the more hawkish elements of his government to take a more aggressive stance. Balancing these conflicting interests is a delicate dance, and one that could have dire consequences if he missteps.

Source of Power:
Saxony's source of power lies within their military, which is considered the finest in all of Europa. The commanders of their armies are the most tactically versed in the world, and their soldiers are drilled into rigorous discipline in the face of all danger. Their weapons and armor are second to none, and even their most basic infantrymen is better equipped than some knights of other nations. The Saxon soldiers possess a strong sense of pride and loyalty to the human race, which gives them the strength, devotion, and discipline to become one of the most fearsome fighting forces in the world. Each soldier is trained from a young age, attending military schools and practicing battles and tactics in mock battles that the whole village partakes in. They are a proud people and nation, with a history to support their pride and the drive to gather more of it unto themselves. Furthermore, Saxony's industry allows them to field the latest and greatest in military technology. They are able to arm their soldiers with the most advanced weaponry, from the latest in flintlock firearms to the most advanced in siege equipment. Their economy is heavily geared towards the production of weapons, and their skilled craftsmen are capable of producing some of the finest arms and armor in the world. All of these factors combined make the Saxon military a formidable force to be reckoned with.

Religion:
The Saxony religion revolves around their god Martius , who they view as their savior and protector. While they recognize the atrocities that Martius has committed in the past, they choose to focus on his good traits such as diligence, justice, and perseverance under oppression. The Saxons also believe that the other gods played a part in corrupting Martius and view him as a victim of his circumstances. They hope that by worshipping Martius in their own way, they can help him become a god of righteousness and hard work once again. Despite this hopeful view, there are still factions within Saxony that use Martius' teachings to justify their own violent and genocidal actions against non-humans. These factions often infiltrate the Saxony churches and use them as a platform to spread their radical ideologies, leading to conflicts within the religion itself. However, the majority of Saxons who follow the teachings of Martius view their faith as a guiding light for their nation's strength and unity. It is the foundation of their unyielding loyalty to the human race and their sense of pride in their military strength.

Capital:
Hamlin , the capital of Saxony, is a true industrial powerhouse. Its economy thrives on the many factories and forges that fill the city, powered by the dams and canals that harness the force of the mighty rivers that converge there. This has turned the air thick with smoke and ash, and the streets are covered in a layer of grime that never quite washes away. The city bustles with activity day and night, with the constant sounds of hammers and rudimentary machinery ringing out over the cacophony of the city. At the heart of Hamlin stands the Kaiser's castle, a massive fortress that overlooks the entire city. Its mighty walls and towers boast powerful cannons and serve as the seat of power for the Saxon nation. The castle is a marvel of engineering and design, with hidden passages and secret rooms that allow the Kaiser to move about unnoticed if needed. It is said that even the most skilled spies and assassins cannot penetrate its defenses, making it an impregnable stronghold of legend. The streets of Hamlin are a labyrinth, designed to confuse outsiders and prevent invasions. It is easy to get lost in the winding alleys and cul-de-sacs that snake through the city, and it takes a true native of Hamlin to navigate its many twists and turns with ease. Yet despite the confusion of its streets, the city is remarkably well-organized, with a strict hierarchy that keeps its many factories and industries running smoothly. The people of Hamlin are hardworking and diligent, proud of their city's reputation as the center of Saxon industry and innovation.

History of Saxony:

The Age of Apostasy: During the Age of Apostasy, Saxony was the industrial powerhouse of the elven empire. The human inhabitants of Saxony were forced to work from a young age in cramped and dangerous mines and factories, laboring under terrible conditions. The elves saw the Saxons as a hardworking and obedient people, not realizing that the humans were learning all their secrets and biding their time for an opportunity to strike back. Despite their harsh circumstances, the Saxons retained their sense of pride and identity, and they never forgot the injustices that had been inflicted upon them by the elves. When Martius emerged as their savior and champion, the Saxons eagerly joined his cause and became his sword against the elven oppressors.

The Devastation: During the Devastation, Saxony was thrust into the bloodiest and most brutal battles of the war against the elves. They fought with a ferocity and tenacity unmatched by any other human army, as they were fueled by their deep-seated hatred for the elves and their years of harsh oppression. The fighting was intense and often close-quarters, with human soldiers charging headfirst into the enemy lines, wielding weapons and armor of gnomish design that were far superior to anything the elves had seen before. The battles were filled with the screams of the dying and the clash of steel on steel, as the Saxons fought to the bitter end to claim victory over their oppressors. The dragons and archmages that the elves sent against them were met with unrelenting resolve and determination, as the Saxons threw themselves into the fray without hesitation. The casualties were immense, with countless Saxon soldiers losing their lives in the conflict, but their sacrifice ultimately led to the downfall of the elven empire. Despite their victory, the Saxons emerged from the war still angry and thirsty for more blood. The atrocities they had witnessed and the bloodshed they had wrought had left them hardened and unforgiving. They turned their attention towards the non-human races, and their brutal tactics and genocidal tendencies became the stuff of legends. But as Martius was defeated and his influence left them, the Saxons began to refocus their efforts on becoming the protectors of the human race, ceasing their genocides and instead expelling all non-humans from their lands.

The Age of Armistice: The nation was left reeling from the Devastation, and the loss of so many of its own people left deep wounds in the nation's psyche. The Saxons turned inward, focusing on rebuilding their nation and making it stronger than ever before as they sought to uncover the mysteries of the weapons they had used to end the war so long ago, most of this knowledge being lost in the carnage. During this time, the Saxons also began to assert their dominance over their neighbors, using their military might and industrial power to expand their borders and solidify their position in Europa. They often clashed with neighboring nations, taking part in the occupation of what is now known as Polania among many other smaller conflicts and battles. However, despite their successes on the battlefield, the Saxons found themselves increasingly isolated and reviled by their neighbors. Their fervent belief in human supremacy and their past atrocities had left them with few friends in the world, and even their former allies viewed them with suspicion and distrust. Despite these challenges, the Saxons remained committed to their cause, seeing themselves as the last defenders of human civilization. They continued to innovate and develop new technologies, and their military prowess remained unmatched in Europa. However, their narrow-minded focus on human superiority would ultimately lead to their current weakened state, as they found themselves standing alone against a world that had grown tired of their aggression and intolerance.

The Year 539AD: In the current year of the setting, the late father of Kaiser Schwartzberg was a man who harbored a great deal of bigotry and prejudice. His life changed when he was saved from a cult of Martius plot by the heroes of Europa, who prevented the cult from using him to instigate a new genocidal war against non-humans. The Kaiser saw no choice but to join with the humans against his own god, and he prayed to Martius to see the error of his ways and to pity the sorry state that so much trauma and bloodshed had reduced his god to. The late Kaiser suffered grievous wounds in the final battle and suffered for decades until finally succumbing to his injuries. Now, his son, Kaiser Hermann, has risen to take his place. Hermann is a young and inexperienced ruler who is known for his more open-minded and progressive views. He recognizes the past wrongs that Saxony has committed against its neighbors, and he is actively trying to repair those wrongs. He is also considering the possibility of being more open to non-humans. However, the Kaiser is mostly alone in his desire for change. The people of Saxony remain firmly devoted to their supremacy, and human supremacy above all else. The Kaiser's advisors are often frustrated with his impulsiveness and lack of political acumen, and they struggle to control his impulsive nature. The Kaiser also faces opposition from his own military, who are fiercely loyal to the traditional Saxon values and are resistant to change. Despite these challenges, Kaiser Hermann remains determined to make a positive difference in Saxony, and he hopes to lead his people into a new era of prosperity and cooperation with their neighbors.
