Personal history
Born in the venerable home of the Elion Family to Gaius Elion IV and Emmaline Elion, Gaius V was given a regal upbringing as well as an education at both the Elven and Holy kingdom schools of magic. During his time in The Elven Garden he would run into the likes of Scunner Friga, the future queen of the Frost Oni and stop her from committing an act of Larceny. Whilst he let her go with a warning and thought of her as just a simple wayward child, the King-to-be would never surmise that this simple and seemingly innocent interaction would change his life for the worse.
Following his graduation from the academy, the Prince would move back to his home in The City of Elionshold to begin a campaign of public works and advocacy for the rights of abhumans and Mamono within the province. A strong voice in their pocket, especially with the support of Lady Uno Valentine, the young prince scored several political victories before his untimely accident whilst on a vacation to the northeast of the city.
Presumed dead for the longest time, the young man would emerge seemingly more jubilant and youthful than ever. According to his father, the boy had been rescued by the 'spirit of the city's guardian lion' and been located near death by the royal guard. This was a piece of critical misinformation, as the young Prince had been found deceased at the site of the crash. Utilizing the power of an artifact left over from The Scattering Stars, Gaius IV would bring his son back in the form of a homunculus and simply fabricate the story of his survival to maintain the dignity of the family as well as his son.
In the months following this, the pair would embark upon a retreat to the south only for their ship to be attacked at its port shortly after by a massive machine controlled by Scunner Friga. Whilst Gaius V's life would be saved by the Adventure Party members under the employ of Iskra Moiran-Knight
With no choice but to ascend to the throne, the young man would assume the title of President of the Hold and leadership of parliament. From this point onward he would lead The Hold in more and more unorthodox ways, instituting border controls as well as hiring on the intrepid adventurers of his vulpine neighbor to begin combating the growing threat of the Frost Oni. Moving to attempt to settle the differences between The Partnership and The Hand in order to create a unified front against the insurrection, his efforts would even reach the ears of The White Host of The Empire to the southwest. The Phantoms would offer their assistance with the matter in order to contain the threat to an outside land before it spilled over, as well as to curry favor with the Presidency for influence in the region.
During the final stages of the Insurrection and following the Incursion at Fort Drache, coordination with the Host would cease immediately, with the King Outraged at the audacious attempt to abscond with land from his province. Things would only worsen as the Spectral Invasion of the Oni was carried out, with Gaius having to declare martial law amidst the terror of the invasion. Following the arrest of Scunner Friga by the Province of the Vulpine adventurers, He was incensed at the prospect of an extra governmental arrest on his own lands by a power whose suffering was miniscule in comparison to that of his own people. it was with this last straw that something seemed to snap within the artificial man, his declaration of martial law running well past its expected cancellation date and into the next two years.
It was during this time that the Presidency would deputize a reformed version of The Partnership under the leadership of The Twins, their forces serving as a form of secret police. It was additionally brought to his attention that the man behind the construction of the machine that had ended his father's life had been exposed to the light for the first time in years. Moving with all swiftness to arrest the man as well as Markus Friendly, former leader of the partnership, He would continue to utilize much more brash and militaristic means to uphold the peace of his lands. To this date, he has no idea that the two prisoners within his holding area are highly advanced impostors planted by the wily Queen of the Foxes.
During the conflict, the President not only discovered the ruse that Iskra had pulled upon him in liberating Luca Borisov, but was revealed to have been moonlighting as Sire Matthieu at the same time in order to control the actions of the international underworld. This would include organizing the conflict between The White Host and the Adventuring party to keep matters contained outside of The Hold. Finally confronted by the coalition of adventurers, Miss Cotton and the recently returned Lady Uno Valentine, the Homunculus' ruse was exposed and he attempted to have the royal guards of the Elion household dispatch the conspirators in one fell swoop. When this plan failed, he found himself under arrest by Jacquelyn Draco of Astarte's Kingdom's royal police service. With his ruse dropped, he told of the existence of Compass as an unrelated organization to his own, as well as one that he had no control over. He had been approached by one of their members prior, and declined the offer in turn. Before he could reveal further information, the meeting was interrupted by "Luca Borisov" flanked by the fearsome EUCALYPTUS construct. Declaring his identity as the true Gaius Elion V who had survived the carriage accident, the usurper would easily denounce the impostor and assume the throne for himself.
