Personal history
Born to unknown parents in the small coastal village of Corazon, Luca Borisov was known to be a savant from an early age in the field of engineering. Graduating from a prestigious college in the Holy Kingdom at the age of 15, the young man was on his way to success in the growing field of steam power and clockwork machinery. It was during his studies that he encountered the legend of the Karakuri warriors of the old night, and for some reason he felt himself gripped by the prospect of bringing back such ancient technology to the future in a more peaceful capacity.
It was shortly after his studies into this archaic technology he would attend the college of magic within The Empire alongside Dr. Aelius Bright. In his dealings with the young Doctor-in-training, Luca would continue the development of his machines with the assistance of his colleague, whilst in-turn developing micro-sized contraptions to assist in the treatment of pathogens and viruses. Little did most know that in reality these versatile machines were not just for treatment, but delivery of pathogens as well. In an effort to assist his colleague and additionally further his research into the possible combat applications of his creations, as well as the potential vectors for profit.
During one of their final forays in viral research, the potent pathogen Dr. Bright had concocted proved to be entirely too powerful for its own good. Threatening a township if it was not contained, Luca was forced to act out of turn, his hand forced into destroying the entire town and in turn saving the country from a potential pandemic event. It was after this occasion that Dr. Bright was banned from practicing medicine within the province and disappeared into the forests of The Elven Garden. With this, Luca would continue his work until his matriculation from the magical academy with full honors and a valedictorian status. Doctorate in hand, the well-known man would disappear from public life as well to complete his magnum opus. There were rumours of what happened next; human experimentation, mechanical monstrosities, Even a particularly incredible story that the doctor himself had passed on after a laboratory explosion and continued his life via some external means.
Nonetheless, Luca Borisov would reappear in the public eye several years later during the Frost Oni Uprising whilst hosting a new apprentice: A soon-to-be notorious blue Dragonborn of unknown origin. It was alongside this eager student that the scientist began the process of advertising his creations for sale to unscrupulous buyers throughout the world. With the notable exception of The Partnership , whose human-centric views clashed with the implementing of mechanical soldiers, he would make a name for himself in hushed tones as the manufacturer of the greatest asset to the criminal underbelly the world had yet seen. From this came the acquisition of a specialty item by the name of "Members only", a relic of Iskra from The Scattering Stars event; A mystical space that would conform to Luca's ideal work space that not even the gods could penetrate without an invitation. It was at this point that he knew it was time to meet with his old Friend Dr. Bright.
Summoning the man into Members Only, the gentleman would rekindle their 'friendship' into a burning rivalry that would carry them into the end of the Frost Oni Uprising. Several skirmishes with the scientist's various inventions would ensue, with Luca utilizing the fights to iterate and improve upon his designs. One day, the Karakuri soldiers would possess a weakness to flame, whilst the next they would be seemingly impervious. It was the perfect development strategy, in his opinion. It was at this time that the former President of the Hold, Gaius Elion IV would be assassinated using one of his more powerful machines. A wrinkle in the plans, for sure, but nothing that he couldn't handle. The plan was still on course.
This was of course not to last.
Shortly after the Frost Oni uprising, the scientist would find himself betrayed and turned in by his apprentice in a rather short-lived coup. This would result in the man being imprisoned within The City of Elionshold's secretive prison beneath the presidential manor. Anticipating that the Adventure Party members would get word of his capture, he would plan to bargain for his own freedom in exchange for select details about the plans of his apprentice as well as assistance in technical matters pertaining to the onslaught of Karakuri warriors and constructs. This would prove fruitful for both parties, with Luca even gaining a favorable reputation over his shut down of a massive mechanical dragon.
Recently, the man has gained serious suspicion over his identity due to information brought forth by "Paperweight"
Such suspicions would prove apt, as shortly following his disappearance from Yamagami-Jisho and the completion of his work on the new body for Lady Uno Valentine, the man would resurface during the Parliamentary upheaval. Declaring himself the rightful ruler of The Hold, he would reveal that he was in fact the true Gaius Elion V, having assumed the identity of Luca Borisov to cultivate a heroic image and usurp the homunculus that had stolen his throne and murdered his father. Having stolen the research notes of the Former Borisov, the displaced monarch would assume every mannerism of the man down to his very habits of excessive cologne use, primarily in order to fool the likes of Dr. Aelius Bright and Iskra Moiran-Knight into believing his identity. Utilizing the antagonistic nature between Borisov and Bright, he was able to keep things at just the right level in order to pass as sufficiently 'maleficent' enough.
What will come of his new rule is unknown, as he is still utilizing the Luca Borisov persona to maintain a heroic image among the international community.
Education
Educated at the prestigious Imperial Magisters' Academy for a doctorate of science, Luca Borisov possesses two doctorates in both engineering and physical sciences. He additionally has impressive knowledge of magical systems despite a professed disbelief in the spiritual world.
Intellectual Characteristics
Arguably one of the smartest men in the world as it is now, Luca Borisov is not to be underestimated in his capacity for passive destruction of a target. Be it physically, mentally or reputation-wise, Luca Borisov has shown in the past that his capabilities are nearly limitless if he has reasonable access to common tools or a social circle.
