Moore Expedition

The Moore Expedition was one of the most important events on Tersten, and is considered by many to mark the official colonisation of Tersten. It began in 11 BC, when Samuel Moore and his expeditionary force touched down on the planet alongside various settlers and colonists, who termed the planet Moore's World in honour of their leader.   Samuel Moore and the first wave of colonists were fleeing the War In the Heavens, a major interstellar conflict taking place within and around the Sol System. Moore and many of his companions had suffered persecutions under the ideas of Aresian cultural supremacy that plagued the early years of Mars, and had been granted permission to settle in the Lordanian Cluster, who were extremely keen on immigration during these years. The first settlement on the planet, Moore, was established in the region the colonists made landfall, today the modern day region of Mora.   Many of the colonist's descendants are found across the entire planet, though most remain in the regions of Mora and Manzalvos. Today, the Moore Expedition is recognised to have taken place on the 25 February 11 BC, and the day is celebrated across Tersten with various festivals and observations.   The second-in-command of the Moore Expedition was João Araújo, who launched the Araújo Expedition in 8 BC, charting the area around Moore, including the Grand Ol' River. Araújo continued upstream into the region today known as Manzalvos, where he founded Manza and Donadillo. These people would become the modern day Manzalan. Araújo would remain here until his death.
