Lancus

Lancus is a city in the South Central Sahamptha, part of the Federal Province of Western Sahamptha. It is a part of the Dustbowler Collective, though its distance from Bibisango has granted the city and its surrounding area a significant deal of autonomy and independence. Lancus lies north of the Degmyur Pass, one of the few easily traversable routes into the Federal Province of Yukela, with many connections into the region.
It is a relatively small city, with a population of just over 100,000. It is built in typical utilitarian style, divided into specific districts and specifically designed to Unitarian specifications. It remains an industrial focused city, with two steel mills and and four foundries dotting its outer limits. As such, it is considered a pretty sad city, slowly dying as its population ages and nobody wants to move in. Those that did move to Lancus following the collapse of the People's Republic and the re-instatement of free travel, were veterans and survivors who were still partially loyal to the old Tersten State. It was here in Lancus that they drowned their sorrows in booze, becoming bitter and resentful at their past, and nostalgic for a better era they imagined for themselves.
In 63 PC, Lancus was the site of the Lancus Slayings, where many aging Unitarians were assassinated by an unknown assailant. These murders were the source of much media speculation and scrutiny. The killer was never found and believed to have escaped off-world, but the story of the slayings has been retold in the media for almost a decade.
