Finn Byrne
Finn Byrne
Finn Byrne was a Terstánach Freedom Fighter, who took part in the Great Revolution against the People's Republic of Lordania. He is considered to be one of the people who helped ensure Central Tersten would remain free, becoming infamous for his many battles against Unitarian Forces, often winning victories despite being outnumbered and outgunned. After the Revolution, he advocated for the greater Republic of Tersten. During the Interregnum, he took part in the Cahir Independence War against the Republic of the Humble Servants of God, helping to unify the region into the modern Republic of Cahir. During the conflict, Byrne was shot in the stomach, which would eventually lead to his death in 47 PC. He was buried in the city of Linegal, where his grave remains a popular memorial.
Born on Yuklid V, Byrne was part of the early wave of penal convicts brought to the planet by the Pinascimate Penal Authority. He, like many others, fled to uncolonised frontiers in search of the República de Nevada. Instead, he and his party settled in modern Linegal, alongside several other Terstánach settlers. Initially welcoming of the People's Republic, he was soon forced to take up arms against the State when it became clear of their ill-intent in the region. He became part of the Tersten Resistance, later joining the Tersten Government-in-Exile, directly refusing the creation of an independent Cahir Republic in favour of greater involvement with the soon-to-be Tersten Republic. This action would cause future conflict, when during the Interregnum, the Republic of the Humble Servants of God declared themselves a legitimate state, as per the Constitution of Tersten. They declared ownership of the Cahir Plains, something the region refused, leading to the founding of the Republic of Cahir and the declaration of independence. Taking part in the conflict, Byrne was used to fighting inexperienced and over-confident Unitarian forces. This mistake caused him to suffer a gunshot wound during one of the early stages of the war. He never recovered from his injury, which would take his life in the early months of 47 PC. His son, Cillian Byrne, was elected to the position of President of the Republic of Cahir in 69 PC, largely thanks to his family name. According to rumours, Cillian Byrne holds the Republic of the Humble Servants responsible for his father's death, and would do anything to avenge it.
