The Paradise Lost

Moirai Chescher (a.k.a. The Paradise Lost)

Profile
Moirai Chescher, the Paradise Lost. He bears an ability born from both great insight and misunderstanding. Moirai is a person continuously swept up in life's tummults and was simply dragged along either the whims of fate or whoever he found himself alongside, for both good and bad. And desperately trying to understand the things that lead him, never acting against them. Not having learned how to stands on his own two feet, he simply resigned to whatever was tugging at his strings at the time. Only through pain and circumstance did all of the frgaments of insight he passed upon within the ebbs and flows of his now mundane maelstrom finally click into place. Since then he's gradually learned to lark and amble across shifting grounds rather than merely stumble through it.
Moirai can be rather eccentric, this usually manifesting in different ways depending on his mood. At times he appears quite melodramatic, simply enjoying the showmanship of exaggerated theatrics. He can be very quick to excitement and enjoys playfully teasing those he's close towards, opponents as well, being the type to subtly dance to a song only he can hear. Paradoxically however, he appears to become eerily tranquil when riled or serious, vestiges of his younger personality rising to the surface. His playful nature doesn't disappear, but simply manifests in a sharper fashion akin to a quiet madness; appearing unhinged yet still precise, subdued but nonetheless dangerous. He takes great pride in how he, at will, can become a very destabilizing presence, while often choosing to use this talent for the opposite effect.
Without the use of his remnant, his ability is called "Thoughtless", an EM, and continuously inundates him with chaotic information from all the Id that he comes into contact withn and able to specifically tune-in or out of types of information to some degree. He cannot fully explain this information, but often links them to senses, decribing them as as smells, tastes, textures, sounds, sights, but oddly, also as what he decribes as "threads". This ability grants him a unique insight about the charactertistics of Id as well as their source should he decipher any meaning, however, this information comes in varying degrees of incoherence that his head seems uniquely able to hold, dire consequences befalling any other who gains even a inkling of what fills his mind.
Eden, The Rebirth
The master of this remnant understand both the value and danger of a reverie. It's lull invites flow, a respite akin to chrysalis that may allow disjoined fragments the chance to coalease into concord. However, there is a danger to this mutability, as it can just as easily be an expanse of dissolution where things may only further go undone into greater dissonance. This remnant perpetually exists in such dissonance, engulfed with only more noise from the world around it as it attempts to grasp at any kind of harmony from the discordance. Many get drawn into its orchestration and join its endeavour to either compose one's noise or dissolve amongst it, but it never acts with cruelty, as it always aids in conducting knowing that either result is fated not to last in one way or another.

Eden manifests as a series of fibrous roots that branch across Moirai's body akin to a secondary nervous system. These branches can easily spread and reshape themselves, even able to grow out of Moirai's body and safely pass through material in a somewhat permeable state, but can also not use this state to drill and tunnel through its target. These branches often sprout pale flowers and contain a glowing energy that crackles and flows throughout it.
The ever-present nature of his remnant make both etherious and remnant abilities ever-accessible. Eden's power, "Paradise Lost", allows Moirai to bestow "Thoughtless" onto others with its branches, causing the same knowledge that flood Moirai to spread to others. Contact with the incoherence embedded in his knowledge, aptly named his "disortion", leaves Id and the minds of others in ruin, him instead dialing back and modulating the influx for more useful applications.

Style and abilities
In terms of raw strength, he's at a disadvantage so he employs a opportunistic style to leave him at advantageous positions and capitalize on any situation. With his ability, he's developed a unique form of application; since Id is merely psyche made manifest, though inspiration and exerimentation he has learned to influence Id manifestations, him shaping and reshaping it into his tools with his insights and tuned sensitivities. The flexible existence of Id allow him to shape it into objects, animate entities or even phenomena, with substantiality and functionality ranging from frail illusion to tangible manifestation. Hailing from a land with very little Id, he's developed a penchant for and great skill with illusions and decoys due to them requiring little effort and resources to create and employ.

Shaping his creations is no easy feat. Most Id manifestations are made from the cognitions and psyche of many people; thus, single-handedly supplying the mental effort to form even simple creations is taxing enough. Anything Moirai doesn't have extensive experience with or is purely imagined can at most only be constructed as an illusion with the durability of frail glass. Without anything prepared ahead of time or exhausted of an ample supply of Id, he's without a majority of his firepower. Catching him in such a state will be quite advantageous, though this strategy only mitigates the danger of his ability; his cunning, unique battlefield prowess, and unparalleled ability to ad lib is a tool of his more dangerous than anything his ability can produce.
Fighting against him is a trial for both body and mind, his duplicitous methods making it as if he and his attacks appear and disappear after even the smallest crack in attention while his cunning makes it near impossible to discern where your attention should even be. All the confusion and disarray leaving his opponent's brain all entangled andhigh-strung, where a single tug can render them undone.

Physical Description

Body Features

Moirai's wyverian aspect came from an orchid mantis, and manifests as a flat flexible exoskeleton patch found on his lower back. Unlike many other Renaissance, he is unable to dematerialize his remnant, Eden simply being a permanent addition to him. Though, Eden manifest internally so it, like his wyverian trait, is not an easily visible trait.

Special abilities

While most draw power from their own pool of ether, Moirai's main fuel source is external in nature, a characteristic that can be both a strength and weakness. Moirai often takes the time to tune-in to his target, becoming able to better manipulate and influence his target, Id or otherwise. Though able to modify most Id to weaken and hinder them, his capabilities are much more efficient towards Id that have he has fully destabalized and overhauled where it is most easily manipulated into an appropriate tool. Unlike other renaissance who essentially have a second body under their command, Moirai's Eden is inseparable from him and thus utilizes its physical form in an atypical fashion. By still manipulating Eden's movements despite it being inside of him allows him to enhance his physical abilities, akin to having an internal power suit.
However his most dangerous asset is his "Thoughtless", which though cannot directly harm others, facilitates a menacing technique that only he is able to do. His ability to tune-into people through the Id people exude grants him a unique awareness of a person's mental state, where their mental threads bend, move, but particularly, where they fray. Through this he can exploit the gaps in people's consciousness to act unnoticed even right before their eyes or direct their focus to wherever he wants, blinding them to everything else. Though his favourite and most potent technique is to use a well-placed shock to the system in order to pry open these gaps and snap their strained strings. In the best of conditions, even a snap of his fingers, the sting of a sudden noise, or an unexpected thwack can leave them in a disoriented trance or even collapsed on the floor. However, this techniques is dependent on an opponents state of mind, but crafting perfect conditions is a specialty of his. All of this he can do all of this without Eden's power, a power he'd rather not use on people.

Apparel & Accessories

Moirai has donned a rather unique outfit for work. He wears a white halter-top waist-coat that's cut-off at the midriff with baker-miller pink lapels and collar paired with a black ribbon bow, underneath which is a tight fit black undershirt with sleeves that end right after the shoulder. Over the vest is a long loose black overcoat with a pink inner fabric and hanging sleeves as there is a vertical cut from the cuff to the a third up the sleeve, letting the majority of his forearm fall out. This overcoat worn either as a mantle or as an off-shoulder coat held up by the arms. For bellow the torso he wears tight fitting flexible pants held up by a thin belt with a silver buckle. As for footwear he has knee-high heeled boots, the majority of which is white with a pink inner fabric, while the soles, laces, and 5.5cm heels are black.

Specialized Equipment

Moirai's unique combat style is incredibly improvised and as such adaptive, with his Id manipulation ability able to function well in any scenario as long as he has access to sufficient material. Though not particularly fast or strong, his deceptive style of fighting can easily put opponents is vulnerable positions. His illusions are not static and are used as distractions, decoys, disguises, and even visual cloaking to an extent. If illusions and trickery aren't sufficient, he has an arsenal of modified Id creations to turn to. His usual repetoire concists of firearms, explosives, and other similar firepower tuned to match the ocassion. Though able to create animate entities, he seldom does so as his distorsion plays on their manifestion and not much on their behaviour. Moirai also often carries around an Id repository disguised as a pocket watch that can house a great deal of raw Id and preprepared creations. Aside from the reshaped Id in his arsenal, Moirai controls Eden externally as his collection of branches he can use to restrain, stab, or facillitate his distorsion. When turning his distortion on people, he only ever microdoses others with his power to "tenderize" sturdier minds and make them vulnerable to shock and suggestion, trances and dazes being a talent of his.   Should circumstances require and allow, Moirai does have a special arsenal for special occasions. Through experience, testing, and sheer luck, Moirai has managed to sequester and wield the strength of other incredibly dangerous Id, recreating their power with knowledge of their nature, some other more dangerous ones even taking days to prepare. It usually being unwise to merely let these reborn disasters freely rampage, Moirai has learned to control their strength through shaping them into tools that retain the Id's properties or assimilating with them for a time, donning fragments of their visage and dominions. However, this technique is akin to a walking a tightrope, as its not as if Moirai commands these Id, but him instead learning to navigate their rules and characteristics to some benefit. All-in-all Moirai can best be decribed as a tactful weapons master with a penchant for trickery whose tools include the traditional, the esoteric, and even the adversarial.

Mental characteristics

Gender Identity

No one knows, he uses male pronouns, but his biology and identity are heavily debated by compatriots, this doesn't bother him, in fact he actively coaxes them and revels in the confusion.

Intellectual Characteristics

Moirai has said that the great majority of what his ability tells him is nothing more than useless barely coherant noise to him, that noise being his ever so dangerous "distortion", and the stuff he usually picks up on are far easier to put into coherant language. He's explained that the knowledge his ability lets him pick-up on isn't like that of an encyclopedia, but the kind of knowledge a person has over a town they've lived their whole life in, or the abstract intuition that comes to you as shivers; the sort of depth that let cats predict earthquakes, or insects, rainstorms.

Morality & Philosophy

Due to personal reasons, he has many reservations when using his power on people, only really using the full extent of his ability on Id, the rare instances where he does, always taking great care not to leave any long-lasting damage. He also regularly reminds others that he's not a mind reader, at least not the "intrusive to personal matters" kind, and he doesn't have mind control, at least not the "take-over" kind.

Taboos

There is a way for Moirai to perfectly communicate exactly what information he picks up on, however doing so is largely useless, dangerous, and difficult. When attempting to recite verbatim what his ability tells him or explain certain concepts, his speech seems to come out as an unknown language described as more "song-like" than a language by people, them promplty passing out (or worse) in mere seconds with any memory of it fading away quite quickly. This is not inconsequential to Moirai either, even a few short phrase of this language causing his vocal chords to rip apart, with him coughing up blood. Even after having figured out how to explain something from his ability, he takes extra care not to accidentally slip in a piece of his language when talking lest he wreck his voice (and whoever he was talking to). Many other methods to attempts communication have ended badly for either him, his conversation partner, or usually both. Thus, due to the caveats of doing so, trying to use alternate methods of communication remians largely unattempted.

History

Tedric is incredibly weary of Moirai and this manifests as aggression, distain, and avoidance. This wariness coming from their knowledge of Moirai's ability and its capacity to glean information from the minds of others. Despite this, Moirai still makes an effort to approach them, in part because he finds them very intriguing, but also in part because he loves to see a usually proud and stalwart individual be knocked and kept on their back-foot by his mere presence

History

Met due to Velvet's brother being Moirai's partner in their hunter licensure examination and Velvet's significant other being Moirai's colleague in their Sylayis hunter division. Since their introduction to each other, Moirai has taking on the mantle of (tormenting) training Velvet in hunting, particularly the use of their renaissance abilities. Both in teaching and leisure, Velvet often falls victim to Moirai's mischief, much the former's fluster and the latter's amusement. Despite Velvet avoiding Moirai like the plague in fear of being roped into one of his games, he still greatly respects Moirai's prowess and instruction, though he'd never deign to admit it. Moirai on the other hand is quite fond on Velvet, not (only) as an easy target for teasing, but as a person whose seemed to have found an honest unwavering sense-of-self, something plenty of people many times their age have yet to achieve. Regardless of their rather high opinion of each other, hidden by huff and cheek respectively, Velvet will always try (and fail) to slink away when he hears that Moirai is coming to visit.

History

Scarlet met Moirai when he was assigned to the same group Moirai was a part of, Moirai immediately noticing the incongruencies in Scarlet's outward demeanor and the hidden disposition he caught a glimpse of. The ensuing confrontation, though only leading to small steps, were what began a journey that led to a close enough friendship that Scarlet disclosed his greatest secret to Moirai.   However, despite their great comradery, Scarlet still acknowledges both their status' as renaissance, and the dangers that come with it, thus Scarlet's neuroticisms persist. Moirai is not oblivious to this and isn't naïve, knowing that Scarlet's concerns are not groundless. Their main point of contention being that Scarlet greatly fears uncertainty while Moirai is able to revel in it. Regardless, he is one of the few comforts Scarlet has and gladly plays that role for him.
