Secretive Languages

Alignment Languages

An alignment language is not really a language it is rather a series of signs and handshakes between those who share the same alignment. Merchants and some experts of disguise can learn small elements of each 'language' but, it is only Assassins who can learn All Alignment languages. This class has a specific language (A Line) which allows assassins to duplicate any alignment language/sign.

Merchant Cant (Restricted Language)

This language is only learnable if the character owns a store, tavern or inn and partakes in trade in the merchant community, a Non-Weapon Proficiency Score in Haggling of 20 or above results in this being a bonus language for the individual so skilled. It includes both spoken terminology but is most commonly experienced as a type of haggling and auctioneering - therefore it allows for swifter passing on of information among speakers and allows for the swift informing of other merchants about suspicious customers in a market or store.

Spy Speak

This is a rumored language - said to have been developed among the Espionage units of the Atlanteans and the Thieves Guild for use by those thieves recruited into the Secret Service.

Thieves Read Languages Adjustment

When seeking to read languages, a thief can add any appropriate language modifier for similar languages known. For example, Roger the Rogue seeks to read an Ignian Script -He normally only has a 15% chance to read an unknown text. However, he knows Brazen Tongue which has a 50% mutual understanding modifier with Ignian - this is added to Roger's attempt to understand the text being read, giving him a 65% chance of successfully reading it (or an understanding of 65% of the text in front of him.). eavesdropping
