The Aeolian Orders

The Borean Order (Lawful Good)

The Borean Order is dedicated to travel. They seek to pursue to the wind itself and train to allow the further travel of civilisation. They train extensively as caravan and trade bodyguards, guides for travelers and to maintain the safety of the roads and passes of the world for the travel of others.

The Order of the Zephyr (Lawful Good)

This Order is similar in outlook and objectives to the Borean Order - often working with them. This Order is the source of the Horseshoes of Zephyr - that allow for the travel of steeds over land and sea without touching the surface. This is said to match the objectives of the Order to promote the correct order of nature - with humanity at the head of all beast kind in the domestication of nature for the service of civilisation. Monks of this order also gain several benefits in Animal Domestication as a result. The Order was established by the Regula Magistri Zephyrys

Zephyr Sub-Orders (Lawful Good)

The following four orders are considered sub-orders of the Zephyr. Each is dedicated to a different type of steed. They ensure that the animals are not endangered and subject to hunting - but they do allow domestication. Each sub-order follows the same Regulations/Rule as the Zephyrs and simply replaces the terms for horse or steed with the particular species that they specialise in.

Sub-order of the Windsteed

Sub-order of Unicorns

Sub-order of Alaricus (Flying Unicorns)

These three orders are Subordinate Order of the Zephyr - maintained so that multiple Grandmasters can hold the position at the same time. The Windsteed Order focuses on guarding Asperii, and Pterripus (Pegasus) herds all over the continent. The Unicorn Order follow Unicorns, and the Alaricus Monks seek to protect the elusive flying-unicorns.
The monks are often found shadowing the steeds and some have even founded monasteries or chapels near areas often frequented by the animals to ensure their protection.

The Levant Order of Eastern Storms (Lawful Neutral)

This is a highly secretive Monastic Order - and are known for sudden appearances in areas and just as sudden disappearances. They are commonly known as the Crazy Monks - due to their seemingly erratic nature. The monks are known for their orderliness and always leave locations they have been in as untouched as possible in appearance.

The Enfurnaced League of Orders (Lawful Neutral & Evil)

The Enfurnaced are those orders who have mutually aligned themselves to the establishment of order over all of nature in some form. They seek control and domination to enforce their model of the world over existing systems of governance.

The Order of the Singing Staff (Order of the Whispering Wind)

This is the Order of Phoenicians - the seekers of all knowledge, who seek to verbalise any knowledge that they discover in some way. (Often this is done upon their return to the monastery - in the meantime they are busy studying texts and pictures and committing written knowledge to LIVING memory so that they may repeat it during their training at the monastery. (Secrets are said to be disclosed in cells surrounded by Silence spells that disallow any but the Wind Lord from hearing them.)

There are several sub-orders to this league. The Unenflamed

The Enflamed

The Enflamed are the Order of the late summer winds.

Individual Aeolian Monasteries

There are a total of eight monasteries, none of them quite see eye-to-eye on how to interpret their calling. This gives a lot of latitude for how the monks train.

The Aeolian Monasteries are themselves named after different mountains.
