Terra Kingdom Overview
Each kingdom has a different aesthetic and feel with unique inspirations. The images below give just a little look into each world and the people there. Keep scrolling for a more detailed description of each region of the world.
Lands of Wisdom
- An independently governed island that started as just a university and has since blossomed into a community of learning and growth.
- The look of this region is inspired by old traditional European and English universities, and American New England towns.
- It always has a cool weather fall vibe. If you get it, you get it.
Oceana
- A seaside trading-based nation with endless possibilities. Full of immigrants from other regions, this region is incredibly diverse and focused on serving the people.
- Think about the aesthetics of colonial America without the atrocities against native peoples and people of color.
- Many coastal cities are built into the landscape, like the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, and Capri.
- Some cities are more supportive of the arts and have similar movements to the Renaissance, and have similar qualities to European cities such as Florence.
Dianata
- A nation of very proud but insular people, where the homes are literally built into the forest.
- Huge "Great Mother trees" are very similar to Sequoias in California. They are used by humans and other animals alike. This community is truly integrated into the original and natural settings around it.
- The inspiration of this region is a huge mixture of fictional and nonfictional forests, including the Enchanted Forest from Once Upon a Time, the Appalachian Mountains, and the stories of the Brothers Grimm.
Sun Plains
- An agrarian-based region with quiet but polite people. They invited other groups into the region for semi-annual festivals.
- Think a mix between the English countryside, the American Great Plains, and Chinese rice fields. Rolling hills and open space. There are some cliffs or beaches near the coast.
Damontis
- An island off the coast of Oceana and Icarria with some similarities to the Lands of Wisdom.
- Very much Anne of Green Gables core. Cliffs, cliffs, more cliffs. A colder and wetter climate than Oceana. Winds rush over the island, a lot of wind-based technology, instruments, art, etc.
- Similar to other northern islands - think Scotland, Ireland, Prince Edward Island.
Icarria
- This region, like the people who inhabit it, has a much darker and more serious tone. There is a long line of a very disturbed royal family that wants to take over additional territory.
- The name of the region comes from the story of Icarus, who was too greedy and naïve to realize their own mistakes until it was too late.
- There are mysterious and unsettling black rocks and cliffs in the southeast.
- Think Greek myths and tragic ballets like Giselle, Swan Lake, Hyacinthus, and Icarus.
Echo Kingdom
- This region is the closest to traditional High Fantasy, with a traditional Queen and King, Princesses and Princes.
- Large castles with elaborate architecture and design. Their culture is a little obsessed with circles and echoes, so it is built into the architecture and urban planning.
- They are the most "high tech" with some 1800s-level inventions, such as hot air balloons and steam-powered inventions.
Olden Empire
- This region is a thriving Arthurian-inspired kingdom seemingly lost in time, and quite literally lost. Generations ago, the northern continent was cut off from the rest of the known world by a mysterious mist, and while the rest of the world thinks the kingdom is gone, it is still thriving in its small corner.
- This region is heavily based on medieval England, Arthurian legend, and Narnia (classic version, when the Pevensie siblings first go through the wardrobe).
Astraea
- A Nordic-inspired island far south of the other regions.
- Much more icy than the other regions, it experiences seasons, but does not have a true summer, and experiences multiple stages of winter.
- They are an insular but very loving and supportive community within their own people. They are very connected with nature. (Honestly, think kinda like the Northuldra people in Frozen 2.)
Isles of Ennea
- An archipelago of tropical islands with a culture heavily influenced by precolonial Polynesia.
- The islands have incredibly tall and very steep pillar-like rock formations, very similar to the formations in the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in China.
