Valensra

Overview

"Valensra" is the official title bestowed upon the leader of The New Children of Castor, a significant organization focused on research and the acquisition of knowledge. The title bears a rich history, echoing the name of the original leader, Castor Valensra, and symbolizing the absolute authority and responsibilities that come with the position. However, the legacy of the title also carries an underlying element of treachery and power struggles.

Etymology and Origin

The name Valensra originates from the Morilanic word Valens'Ra, which means King of Knowledge, Protector of Knowledge, or Wise Guardian. The title comes from the last name of Castor Valensra, the original leader of the Children of Castor. It was passed down as a form of honor to successive leaders, a tradition meant to instill respect and continuity within the organization. However, the reality of the title's adoption is shrouded in deceit. Pasma Tash, a prominent figure within the group, used Castor's last name as his title to secretly mock him. While the suggestion for the title did not originate from Pasma but rather from a naive member who was unaware of Pasma's betrayal of Castor, Pasma embraced the idea, thus adding a layer of irony to the esteemed title.

Powers and Responsibilities

The Valensra holds significant powers over the decision-making processes within the New Children of Castor. Some of the critical responsibilities include:
  • Membership Decisions: The Valensra has the authority to admit or refuse new initiates and decide who joins the Inner Circle.
  • Resource Allocation: The leader controls how resources are obtained, spent, and how the Children's research time is allocated.
  • City Leadership: As the leader of Valens, the City of Knowledge, the Valensra must handle issues related to the city, such as maintaining the magical wards that protect it.

History of the Valensras

Only two individuals have held the title of Valensra:
  1. Pasma Tash: The first to carry the title, known for his cunning and ruthlessness.
  2. Unnamed Successor: This individual was given the title temporarily and expected to relinquish it to Tash. However, after failing to do so, he was covertly killed by Tash, who then retook his title.

Legacy and Impact

The title "Valensra" stands as a symbol of both honor and intrigue, reflecting the duality of leadership and ambition within the New Children of Castor. It is a complex representation of power, wisdom, treachery, and the relentless pursuit of knowledge, embedded in the very core of the organization and the mystical city it leads.

A note for myself and future readers that may care: I tagged the New Children of Castor when it should be the Kastir, instead (the original Children of Castor, so you see the reason for the error). I will fix this after August is over.
