Planar Corruption
Planar Corruption refers to the permanent changes that occur in individuals as a result of exposure to the influence of metaplanes. Depending on the individual and the nature of the changes, Planar Corruption can be either desired or unwanted. When desired, it is often called a "blessing," whereas when unwanted, it is referred to as "corruption." A more neutral term for these changes is "Planar Investment."
These changes can manifest in various ways, such as alterations in appearance, behaviour, or abilities. They often reflect the traits and qualities associated with the influencing metaplane. For example, an individual affected by Planar Corruption from Axiom may develop a heightened sense of discipline and order, whereas corruption from Pandemonium may result in more impulsive or hedonistic behaviours.
Planar Corruption is particularly common in areas where a plane is ascendant, or where a manifest zone exists. The strength of the plane's influence can vary depending on its level of ascendancy, with more potent effects during times of high ascendancy. Mortals living within these Manifest Zones may develop planar traits over time, and their offspring may be born with noticeable plane-touched characteristics.
Planar Corruption may also result from exposure to the chaotic energies of a Void Storm, in which case it is referred to as wild planar corruption.
