Pandemonium, the Metaplane of Chaos and Desire, is a realm of constant change, hedonism, and unbridled emotion. It is the antithesis of Axiom, where the individual is celebrated, and personal ambitions are given free rein. Though often associated with wickedness and vice, Pandemonium can also represent liberation for those who feel oppressed.

Metaplanar Geography

The landscape of Pandemonium is wildly unpredictable and ever-changing. Towering, jagged spires rise and fall seemingly at random, while rivers of lava and vibrant, otherworldly flora twist and turn across the plane. The very ground itself can shift and transform, making navigation difficult and often dangerous.
The skies of Pandemonium are filled with swirling, chaotic energies that manifest as brilliant auroras or crackling lightning storms. The atmosphere is charged with raw emotion, and time appears to flow erratically, making it difficult to measure the passage of days or years.

Denizens of Pandemonium

Pandemonium is home to a variety of fiendish beings, including demons, devils, and other creatures born from mortal vices and desires. These inhabitants are driven by their passions and ambitions, often clashing with one another in fierce battles for power and influence.
Demons, in particular, embody the chaotic nature of Pandemonium, reveling in destruction and discord. Devils, on the other hand, are more cunning and manipulative, using their charm and guile to corrupt mortals and further their own ends. Despite their differences, the denizens of Pandemonium all share an insatiable thirst for power and personal advancement.

Effect upon the Material Plane

Within its Manifest Zones, the rules of society and order begin to break down, replaced by a whirlwind of unpredictable, often destructive events.
Magic that promotes chaos and personal freedom is empowered within these zones, while spells and effects that impose order and control are weakened or negated entirely. As the veil between the planes thins, beings aligned with Pandemonium may find it easier to cross over into the Material Plane, leading to an increased presence of demons and other fiendish entities.
For those who dwell in these manifest zones, life becomes dangerously unpredictable, with the individual holding sway, and might making right. At the same time, these areas can provide an opportunity for personal growth and transformation, as the chaos of Pandemonium breaks down the barriers of societal expectation, allowing individuals to explore their own desires and ambitions without restraint, and to express themselves without limit.
