Broken Thanes

A land of wind-scoured hills, crumbling fortresses, and forsaken battlefields, the Broken Thanes mark the southernmost border of Othvarand’s reach, overlooking the mist-veiled expanse of Lake Mordain. Once the domain of ancient warlords and sworn thanes, the region is now a patchwork of strongholds held by the Sovereign Banners, and just outside of their watch range lawless warbands and wandering exiles.

Legends say the last true Ashborn thane fell in betrayal, and that the land itself still hungers for oaths unfulfilled. The fortresses that remain are crumbling, but still manned. The hills, though treacherous, offer a commanding view of Lake Mordain's grim waters, and many believe that the key to the lake’s secrets lies hidden somewhere among the Broken Thanes.
