Ashborn

The Ashborn are a steadfast, tradition-bound people whose roots stretch back to the old highlands and forested valleys of northern Imorea. According to their oldest songs, their gods breathed life into the branches of the World Ash, shaping the first of their kind from bark and bone. Their ancient rites once honored winds, fire, stone, and stream, each watched over by a host of ancestral spirits and gods.

Though many Ashborn have since adopted the faith of Holy Law, they often do so with reservation or private compromise. To many, the Church is a foreign yoke, imposed through coin, sword, and the slow erosion of memory. Still, some younger Ashborn walk the path of the new world, even as the old words are spoken in secret, and the Ashtree is still carved in quiet places.

They are known for their discipline, hospitality, and long memory, and though their numbers are fewer than in centuries past, the Ashborn endure.
