The Sewers
Answering a call from the city's magistrate, 5 adventurers arrive in the city of Zion. Ned Blackfoot, the Inquisitive Rogue; Bellum Calloway, the Armorer Artificer; Fractal, the Divination Wizard; Sutha the Half-Light, the Twilight Cleric; Kahgaz Ironjaw, the Rune Knight Fighter.
Magistrate Jatra explained the situation to the five adventurers. The city has recently decided to expand their sewer system, but on a recent survey of the current tunnels, strange noises and tunnels were discovered that were not on the city's maps. Jatra asked the adventurers to go into the sewers and investigate the source of the noises and tunnels. She gave them permission to do what they felt necessary in the sewers, and that, while news of the problem being solved would be preferable, she would be satisfied with knowledge of what they had to deal with. After making their preparations the night before, the adventurers ventured into the sewers.
In the underground tunnels, the adventurers heard the sounds of arguing in Draconic followed by a loud explosion and the sound of rubble shifting. They encountered a group of eight kobolds led by a Scale Sorcerer named Vek. He explained that the tunnels beyond the cave-in (which they had caused) belong to the Crimson Foot clan. The territory had been gifted to the clan generations ago by the founder of Zion in return for the clan's assistance in constructing the original sewer tunnels. Over time, knowledge of the clan had diminished, and now very few outsiders know of their existence at all. The adventurers made a deal with Vek to bring Jatra to the entrance of the sewers to negotiate terms for the expansion of the sewers alongside protection of the clan.
Ned returned to the surface to fetch Jatra and told her of the bargain with the kobolds. Jatra was surprised to learn of their presence, and brought along the leader of Zion's council, Avenall Thurmond. Avenall confessed to knowledge of the kobolds and to his hope that the planned expansion of the sewers would drive out the creatures he held such distaste for. Jatra rebuked him and commanded him to attend the negotiations and cooperate fully with whatever she and Vek decided.
Vek and Jatra met at the entrance to the sewer tunnels and successfully negotiated the new expansion for the sewers along with the protection of the Crimson Foot clan, with Avenall as witness to the proceedings. Jatra thanked the adventurers for their assistance and told them to return to her for their reward. Vek led the adventurers back to the Crimson Foot clan's den and before Matriarch Zulti, who offered them each a magical item from the clan's treasure horde in thanks for their assistance.
