Askaria
Askaria is located to the southeast of Estril in the southern hemisphere of Telmora. Primary exported trade goods are salt, lumber, and stone. Worship of Pelor is prominent on Askaria, as his center of power is located on the continent.
Important Locations
Ailmoor - a small town located at the eastern edge of the Scythe. The barren landscape doesn't allow for agriculture, but the quarry outside of the town provides valuable jobs and trade.
Ancemont - a small city on the southwestern coast of Askaria, the tundra surrounding Ancemont limits agricultural variety, but provides a great deal of lumber in the surrounding regions for trade as well as use in the city itself.
The Barrens - a bustling, walled metropolis located at the southern edge of the Scythe. The Barrens was the first settlement to truly succeed in the ruined landscape of the Scythe, mining for salt and stone beneath the cracked earth. The Barrens are home to every race and walk of life. Class means little in the Barrens, as everyone must contribute to the city.
Bleakburn Outpost - found just south of the Ruins of Plada on the western edge of the Scythe, Bleakburn Outpost is the staging area for all ventures and excavations into the Ruins. While originally intended to be temporary in nature, the occupation of the area has required more permanent structures to be built.
Bolstead - found just north of the Rimedale mountain range, Bolstead is one of the stronger agricultural towns in Askaria. Surrounded by trees and arable land, the citizens of Bolstead are easily able to live off the land around them and trade minimally with the settlements nearby.
Caerlas - a small city to the south of Sheva Caerlora, Caerlas is governed by the leaders of the larger metropolis. They have enough arable land to subsist off their own agriculture, but they do rely heavily on trade through Sheva Caerlora for everything else.
Dalry - a village southeast of Sheva Caerlora and Caerlas. Dalry has a small fishing community due to its proximity to the saltwater inlet due south.
Dhorn Daral - a forest town located on the western coast of Askaria. Dhorn Daral is fairly isolated from the other settlements in Askaria, save Bolstead and Bleakburn Outpost.
Eastport - a trade city on the eastern edge of Askaria, Eastport provides an entry point for goods from other continents into Askaria. Apart from their fishing industry, Eastport provides little of their own goods and relies on traders passing through.
Eimford -brushing against the eastern shore of Glounia Loch is the walled city of Eimford. They have an abundant supply of freshwater fish from the loch, though the city itself produces little in the way of crops.
Eryphis - due west from Eimford is the small town of Eryphis. They have a freshwater lake to the north that provides a small source of fish, but their main trade comes from the crops grown in the town.
Gaana Esari - the southernmost city on Askaria, Gaana Esari's walls protect their citizens from the freezing winds that blow across the southern tundra as well as the ferocious beasts that roam the wilderness. All of their trade comes from stone gathered from outside the walls.
Hirane - nestled in the forested area north of the Rimedale mountains, Hirane has an abundance of arable land and lumber resources for sustenance and trade.
Isolon - located on the western banks of Arrn'ess Caerlora and to the southwest of Sheva Caerlora, Isolon is a large, originally Orcish settlement that now provides homes and jobs for all kinds of people. Isolon is best known for the researchers and enchanters that study the artifacts unearthed from the Ruins of Plada.
Lilsanore - a large town on the northern edge of the Scythe, Lilsanore provides a little bit of everything in the way of trade. Their proximity to the saltwater inlet to the northwest, forest to the north, and arable farmland surrounding the east and south, Lilsanore is more than able to provide for themselves and nearby settlements.
Rimedale Stronghold - the checkpoint for any passing through the gap in the Rimedale mountains. Rimedale Stronghold provides some sense of protection for those living in the more treacherous southern towns as well as a place to rest and prepare for travel into the southern reaches of Askaria.
Ruins of Plada - on the western coast of Askaria lies the remnants of an ancient civilization, the Ruins of Plada. While researchers have been unable to determine the exact date of creation of the city nor when it fell to destruction, some have theorized that Plada was one of the first settlements on Telmora as a whole. Any artifacts retrieved from within the ruins are sent to Isolon to be studied.
The Scythe - The site of the final battle between the Creators and the Chained Oblivion. It was on this ground that Ioun was wounded and that Pelor sealed the Chained Oblivion away for eternity. However, the battle claimed the lives of many and left the land scarred, from which it will likely never heal. Many believe that, being as Ioun was wounded on this land, that it is tied to her wound itself. If Ioun herself were to recover from her wounding, perhaps then the land would recover as well.
Sharnwick - settled between the Crystal Forest and the southeastern coast of Askaria, Sharnwick is a large city that thrives off of the timber trade. The people that live there are hardy and stalwart after generations of surviving the harsh climate of southern Askaria.
Sheva Caerlora - hidden amidst the dense trees of Vandor Caerlora, the Askarian metropolis of Sheva Caerlora, originally constructed by wood elves many centuries ago, now stands as a bustling metropolis home to many races and creeds. Sheva Caerlora oversees the governance of Caerlas as well. The city is best known for its vast libraries and historical records as well as fabrics and fashions not made anywhere else in Telmora.
Transfere - serving as the central settlement in southern Askaria, Transfere is the primary go between and transporter of trade goods from all of Telmora that come into central and northern Askaria and travel through the checkpoint at Rimedale Stronghold. Transfere has roads to every settlement in southern Askaria, providing traders with the safest passage from town to town.
Venzor Abbey - the religious center of Askaria, Venzor Abbey is the nearest location to Pelor's natural font of power that people have managed to pinpoint. Many clerics and devotees of the sun god study at the abbey, and those with diseases and injuries too grave to be cured by local healers are either conveyed to the abbey or have a skilled healer sent to their location if they cannot be transported.
Warpwood Necropolis - located within the Scythe, Warpwood Necropolis houses the bodies of those who fought alongside Pelor and the other Creators against the Chained Oblivion. Though the bodies were blessed before they were interred, many people in Telmora believe the necropolis to be haunted by the souls of those soldiers, cursed by the Chained Oblivion to wander the land, unable to find peace.
Warpwood Tower - once the home of the gravekeepers that watched over the necropolis, Warpwood Tower is now home to an unknown mage, mysterious and powerful, who never leaves the tower. Whether the mage is the cause of the spirits said to roam the necropolis or the only thing keeping them from passing beyond its boundaries is unknown.
