The Po Dragonpole
Originally the weapon of the Sifu of the Thornleaf-do dojo in the Seraph Mountains of Taisha, this simple looking staff was modified by Po Arendarensai for her student, Cora Thornleaf, to be collapsible. Sprouting forth at the press of a button, the Halfling, Cora, has kept the prototype for the entirety of her extended life.
It was well used, and is still sometimes needed, when Cora Thornleaf is called upon.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
It has become imbued with power from its proximity to people who draw on such vast amounts of ki while ritualistically performing kata with the instrument. Its ability to retract and extend while remaining solid is a marvel of extraspacial engineering.
Manufacturing process
Po made the staff entirely by hand, using draw knives and other handheld blades to smooth the blackthorn and etch the designs. The inlay was done with more precise tools, in her machine shop, and it was hardened with natural resin in her own vacuum chamber. Coated with Gaian Nanites, it is self healing and able to manifest spell-like abilities.
History
Hand crafted from blackthorn wood inlaid with holly, the modifications Po made to it in order for it to be collapsible are not mechanical; the pole becomes longer or shorter due to forced extradimensional perspective. This allows it to shoot out violently as an attack, giving Cora a ten foot reach with the weapon.
Po made one other dragonpole, modeled after this one, and gave it to her brother Col's monastary on Mount Grey, prior to the mountain's destruction. It is assumed destroyed, along with the monastary and a very lucrative gold mine.
Significance
People who know of it, know that Cora is close by it; probably touching it, if other people are looking at it.
This hand crafted masterpiece is a legitimate artifact of the Llank-Ryu monastic style
Unique.
There is one other Dragon Pole, but this staff is the prototype, and has also been modified pretty extensively. It is easily identifiable by the Elvish runes inscribed along its length, and of course the button to collapse the weapon down to a third if its original size.
This particular Dragon Pole is well used, but fastidiously cared for, and has taken on new aspects due to its proximity to the demi-god, Cora Thornleaf.Blackthorn inlaid with holly.
It has been covered in deeply etched runes and pictograms depicting life at Thornleaf-do. Although some of them are worn from continual use, they nonetheless continue to grow in power and intensity the more they are used.
