Orc

May his Eye be upon You.
- Common Orcish parting, meaning "To Travel Safely"
The mighty and somewhat savage Orcish tribes are a notable threat throughout the world of Taurin. Tribes of Orcs are often seen ravaging villages and caravans that pass near their camps or migrating throughout the landscape depending on the season and scarcity of resources. Orcs believe they are owed that which was taken from them long ago in a battle between Gruumsh and the other creator gods, particularly Corellon of the Elves. Orcish society favors strength of both will and force and hold their gods to be truly invincible, especially Gruumsh, and model their society after the traits they embody.

He Who Watches

Orcs are known to be especially superstitious, putting great stock into omens and rumors as they believe these symbols to be their gods communicating with them. Many a clever individual has used this to their advantage, planting rings of stones or marking trees with deep gashes has been enough to prevent entire skirmishes from occurring. While often seen as stupid however, these habits often have some weight to them as each Orc and Half-Orc experience visions of great battles against faceless hordes as they near adulthood and are compelled to prove their strength, believing if they earn Gruumsh's favor they might fight at his side in death. Rough but not cruel, Orcs during a siege are only preoccupied with gathering resources than killing those who do not pose a threat and often leave settlements quite well off after leaving.

Trained in Battle

While not the brightest, only the foolish would diminish their talent for tactics or their strength of discipline. Walled villages have found themselves beset by diseased cattle from Orcish siege weapons and forced out of their homes for trying to hide behind their mighty towers. The only true way to fend off an Orcish siege is to prove yourself in battle, in some cases Orcs have been so impressed with a warrior's strength, even beyond their own race except for Elves, that they may spare and even align themselves with their protected home. This is true of tribes, and the individual. An Orcish companion favors strength of character and body above all else and will fight to the bitter end in the greatest of battles so long as you treat them with the respect they give you.
