Gibraltar

The City of Peace

Gibraltar is the second largest city in the Isles of Morvran Mist-Walker, and one of the oldest. It was founded in 450.I by the namesake of the Isles himself, Morvran Mist-Walker, as he pushed for peace between the then-warring nations of Loquintia and Nerubia, who fought for control of the middle-islands.

Government

Gibraltar is under the domain of The Kingdom of Gibraltar, a monarchy presently ruled by King Alan Wrench II.

Defences

Gibraltar is protected by a 25-foot tall wall that surrounds the entire city. Atop the walls are archers, as well as mounted ballistae and catapults.

Industry & Trade

Gibraltar's biggest industry by far is agriculture, with an entire third of the city dedicated to it. The majority of its exports include livestock and grain.

Infrastructure

Gibraltar is a relatively developed city with all of the comforts of any modern Tarrocian settlement. It has a sewage system, grain mills, roads connecting all major areas, defensive walls, and a large port to the North.   The city itself is divided into four separate districts called "wards" - the Grainward, the Lowward, the Skyward, and the Homeward.

The Grainward

is home to all of the city's agriculture. Hundreds of thousands of tonnes of grain are grown here and exported annually, among other farming goods such as livestock, rice, and corn. Most folks here have lived here their whole lives, carrying on a family tradition of working the land for an honest living. Generally, the population is well-off, though they tend to save their money rather than flaunt it.

The Lowward

is the poorer portion of Gibraltar. This is where the majority of crime happens, and it lies on the Eastern side of the River Braltar, far from the city's major business areas and on the opposite side entirely to the Skyward. Although this area is poor and somewhat run-down, most would still rather live here than in the rural parts of the kingdom.

The Homeward

is the center for business and middle-class living. It takes up the most space of any of the four wards, essentially the entire western half of the city. Nothing out of the ordinary happens here, it's simply a comfortable place to live with all of the basic amenities that a modern citizen can expect in an urban area.

The Skyward

is an incredibly small portion in the northwestern corner of Gibraltar, housing the royal palace and the homes of council members and other important figures in the city. Only those who have a direct connection to the royal family are allowed entry, as the area is enclosed by a 25-foot tall steel fence and guarded at all times.

Assets

Grain, fish, steel, furs

Guilds and Factions

The Silver Tail is a global religious organization following the god Bahamut, headquartered in the Skyward of Gibraltar. They have sworn an oath to seek out evil and purge it from Tarroc, including but not limited to demons, devils, and elemental forces.

History

Gibraltar was founded in the year 450.I by Human settlers from Lar Na Tire. Led by Morvran Mist-Walker, the humans drove apart the warring Loquintians and Nerubians, claiming the middle-islands for themselves.

Architecture

Architecture in Gibraltar is more functional than flashy. Most houses are simply constructed of cobblestone mined from the Emberthorn Crags and oak wood harvested from the Gibraltar Wood. Homes are generally no more than 2 stories tall, though the house of a wealthy individual could be as tall as 5 stories. More affluent areas are typically adorned with silver and gold decorations, banners representing the gods, and occasionally acacia wood imported from the Khazari Jungle.

Geography

Gibraltar is split down the middle by the River Braltar. To the east is the Gibraltar Wood, a large, mostly uninhabited forest/grassland with many wild animals. To the west are the Emberthorn Crags, a volcanic mountain range which sits on the Great Sea.
