Writ of Passage
Soulmeliti Visa
After a 150 years of mourning, Forestpeaker Thantherian Styvalhyme decreed that the the Soulmeliti Forests would once again be open to visitors from foreign nation-states, albeit on a limited basis. Visitors must first apply for and be approved to visit. This approval, known as a Writ of Passage, could only be obtained from select Soulmeliti embassies in Drythe, Geyla. Grennig, and of course, Karradone.
The application process involves several steps, including a consideration fee, questionnaire, interview, and, if approved, processing fee. The process moves quickly, with most decisions being rendered within three years.
Writs are issued for a nominal period - 50 years - before they must be renewed. To date, hundreds have applied and over three dozen writs have been granted. The issuance of such a large number of writs issued over the past 15 years has been seen as a wild success by Soulmeliti keen to open their borders again.
Others have praised the careful selection process, which has limited visitors to only those of highest quality. The largest number of writes have been issued in Geyla, historically an ally of the Forests, and most of them have been to the Khadric merchants and more importantly, craftsmen, desperately needed to repair some of the stone work in New Solarin. And despite the uproar from Karradone when the regent Jethrick d'Uthar was denied, a number of Human scholars, book merchants, and other artists have been approved. The embassy in Drythe even approved a pair of Kenku who hoped to open formal relations between the Flock and the Forests.
