Wildspace Marines - 34th Battalion
Once nearly thousand Giff strong with a score of Bombards, the 34th Battalion of Wildspace Marines arrived on Tarien in the middle of the 5th Century as part of the Great War. Part of the interplanar recruitment campaign lead by Olaf Samsonsonsonsonsonsonsonson and Traipse, the battalion served with distinction, liberating New Solarin until Elynthi forces learned the location of the gathering army, near the Olaf's Tower. In the battle that followed, the Battalion stood their ground against a flying army of Baatuza, fighting bravely and playing a pivotal role in the eventual victory of the combined forces of the Pre-Ordained. They also, however, took substantial losses, including the destruction of their flagship, The Evervictorious and the battalion's commander, Colonel Marquis the Decanus.
The Great War eventually waned with surviving members the battalion expelled from Tarien in with the Miracle of Rebirth . Little did anyone know, however, that The Everlasting had survived the battle, having been lost in a vortex created as the side effect of one of Wilson the Wild's spells. Trapped in a pocket dimension, the ship was held in stasis for nearly three centuries before the spell finally wore out, ejecting the ship back into where it promptly crashed in the western Rheuthengage Mountains. Colonel Marquis took stock of his surroundings and remaining crew - a recruit known for his lack of accuracy with a firearm. Without a crew to fly his ship, the Colonel and Private hiked westward, eventually recruiting deckhands hands and a Nerrid engineer in Gartcha. With a bit of help from their new allies, they set about repairing their ship and have since taken to the skies. While still technically under the auspices of their original mission, the Marines have been unable to find General Samson and have begun to trading in northwest Tarien with the hopes of refilling their ranks and reengaging as a mercenary unit.
