War College of Gartcha

Originally a joint venture between the Citystate of Gartcha and the Empire of Eldoria, the War College was created to combine the best in Eldorian and Zennonaize military theory. All officers in the Imperial Legion spend a full year at the college, combining academic study and practical experience to officers. The college has expanded in recent years and now offers its course to officers, nobles, and mercenaries from throughout Tarien. In fact, a full fifty percent of their annual enrollment is now dedicated to these students. “Foreign” students, as they are called, are most often promising young men and women from the Mercenaries' Guild. The Guild typically pays their hefty tuition and charges it against their billings for the next decade.

Classes began at the War College immediately following the new year. They begin with academic studies in military history, but each moon brings a new topic. Soon, the students are learning both in the classroom by watching the 12th Legion and Imperial Navy. By the Uthar Moon, classwork is finished. Each student is then apprentice to an officer in the Legion or Navy, at the student’s choice. They then shadow the officer for four moons, gaining valuable practical experience.

The college dean, General Andre de Champs, also commands the 12th Legion. In addition to conducting classes, the former officers of the Legion that teach at the college research military history and write about tactical theory on a regular basis. Some excellent texts on both subjects have been published by the War College. There is also some discussion calling for an advanced curriculum, designed for generals, but at this time it is still in the planning phases.
