Yatian Senator
Persius has a winning smile and intelligent gleam in his dark brown eyes that he has ridden to three separate elections to the Yatian Senate over the past two and half decades. Even when he was on hiatus, the Senator has managed to wield great influence as one of the founding members of the Forum for Democratic Reform. When not formally meeting with the Senate, he can often be seen walking the streets of the upper city, stopping to speak with his many contacts and admirers, taking the pulse of the city, and understanding the needs of its people.
Despite the modest incomes from a small tavern halfway up the hill, he has managed to both remain in the public eye and fund a lavish lifestyle with his politicking. Like any true Citystate of Yatian, he would never soil the democratic process by taking a bribe. His influence, however, means that he has benefitted from numerous gifts unrelated to any specific measure or issue. His large apartment in the city was one such gift, as are the Dharjan rugs and Soulmeliti tapestries that adorn it. Some consider his acceptance of these gifts a crime. Even if they are not for a particular issue they must influence his thinking, say his detractors, and several attempts to pass measures against it have been brought to the Senate floor. Fortunately for Persius, however, none have passed, though a few have come close and might have done so if not for an untimely illness of to a pair of opposing Senators that prevented them from voting.
