Pereri Marchant

Yatian Founding Father

Pereri was a man of many talents who lived in Yaty at the turn of the Fourth Century. First and foremost a gentleman farmer, he grew his small homestead just south of the city into an impressive plantation that eventually shipped oranges and limes to ports across the Inner Seas. As his prowess with agriculture grew, he found himself involved more and more in the distribution of goods, eventually purchasing a ship of his own to transport his citrus. While he never captained the ship himself, he did take several voyages with it, humbling working alongside the crew and learning their craft.

His journeys exposed him to numerous people and ideas. His wealth allowed him to acquire dozens of books on a number of subjects and in his later years he turned his attentions to scholarly pursuits, most notably to philosophy. It was with these ideas that he joined other Yatians to found the Citystate. His skill with words made him a natural choice to draft the bylaws that became the framework for the Senate in a document that Yatian's simply called Our Republic. He died shortly after the founding, leaving most of his wealth to the new Republic to help fill the young nation's coffers, kickstart its services, and ease the tax burden on its new citizens.
