Francis Hal’vera

First Mate of the Swallow

The journey of the Swallow is a tale of bravery in face of a savage wilderness populated by a savage people. While such a historic expedition of discovery would surely have gone down in the annals of history, it is not the University of Karradone's clinical accounting the waters of the White River or the creatures of the Jungles of Thallox that everyone remembers. Instead it is the awe and mystery of first contact with the Kari-Zaro and the terror of an ambush by the Tzecheni'korak that fills the tales of adventure still told by bards alongside the docks of Karradone today. And it is Halvera to whom the bards owe the granduer of these tales. Something of a story-teller herself (though sadly she could not carry a tune), Francis returned from her harrowing journey filled with tales of the dark lands to the east of Eldoria and spent the rest of her life telling them to anyone who would listen, especially if they were buying the ale while she told the tales. During these tellings the bards of her era codefied the stories, turing many of them into the tavern songs that have long become the favorites of sailors all across the Inner Seas.
