Nordjeim River System

Flowing out from the north-eastern coast of the Glacial sea, the strong and steady Nordjeim is an artery within the Ironcliffe Province and indeed is an artery for all of Suranth, thanks in no small part to the massive fortified dam and garrison simply known as Fort Cragmount. The Nordjeim naturally flows east from this point, but with the massive construction project, which took half a dwarven generation and the best and brightest minds in the Suranthi Engineer Corps, along with the brilliance of the sharpest minds in Geology and Mathematics in the nation. The result was a branching river that has become a major boon and artery of the nation, as the Nordjeim splits here, continuing to the east, but also branching into the Dugkra River flowing out to the north. The river lands of the Nordjeim system are well settled and well traveled, and a true resource of boon to the peoples of the Ironcliffe Province. The river system does attract trouble of its own of course. Bestials, specifically yeti raids are common enough to be of noted concern, and Green-Skins raids are not unheard of, and as such most settlements are defended as best they can, the populace armed, if nothing else. If they can manage it and afford it of course, a wall or palisade will be present. The Nordjeim is a mighty river in its own right, not as wide or strong as the Tiber or Sumor, but still a few hundred meters wide, even over a kilometer at its widest points. The current is strong but steady, and the river is known to be a calm one with quite limited risks for sailors, and no rapids to really speak of. It is a favored route of mercantile river skiffs and ferrying services, and one can see all manner of boat on any given day sail by them if they watch from the riverbanks.
