Dumbaraf Connighclan
A busy clanhold, of trade and agriculture, this region is a productive one, and the most populous in the Icevale Province besides the Feirmecliste Duicacht to the south. The region is a breadbasket of sorts, and one of agricultural commerce both foreign and domestic. Fiolag Thorgar Dumbaraf, a former naval captain, holds sway here, and as such, Anchorium also acts as a key port for the Suranthi Navy, and the men and women serving do much to insure the trade waters stay safe, the naval crews and vessels stationed here rotating through patrols and pirate hunting regularly.
Geography
CITIES/TOWNS:
Anchorium (7811): The principal settlement, and the largest in the region, doubling as a naval garrison. Anchorium is a militant market town, with a great deal of produce, simple materials and animal based products (such as leathers, for example) passing through the town. Though not as favored a port as Bruachthoir just to the south, Anchorium does hold quite a bit of sway as a port town, considering it is also an important naval garrison, and as such, is a place of significant financial influence. Recently, the town has been under quite a bit of stress and there is concern, as within the Chum Docks neighborhood, there has been a bout of cholera that's taken hold in the last week or so, and there is great concern that it could become a full blown epidemic.
Berryside (5409): This town where two roads meet is more familiar to some from the south, in that most whom count as living in Berryside actually have their own farmsteads under the towns watchful eye, and come into town perhaps once a week. The region is well known for its berry farms. Cranberries, blueberries, raspberries being the most successful, though blackberries and elderberries are grown here by some as well. As such, it should come as no surprise that there are some very successful wineries and distillers that operate here as well. Recently there has been news of highwaymen operating out of the area, raiding and robbing some of the local farmers along with hitting travelers. These bandits have been moderately successful, enough so that a bounty has been levied by the local community, though not yet so successful that the local authorities or military feels the need to step in.
Cran's Crossing: (4177): This town has the odd distinction of being one of the first to embrace something shiny and new about the advent of locomotion. Many whom work in the three big canneries or at the rail yards themselves do not necessarily live in the town itself, just as many whom work the cranberry fields outside just west and north that give the town its name do not. The labor force for these jobs is about thirty to forty percent from Rasip, a small town just under half the size of Cran's Crossing only but five or six kilometers away. The lower class sorts oft walk this, perhaps able to afford a simple wagon or dogsled trip, though not a true carriage. Many upper end office types simply ride the rails, with a few upper end business sorts even making the trip from Pike's Head, a large village thirty five kilometers north-east, daily via the rails to work and manage their interests in Cran's Crossing. It is something of a modern marvel that is beginning to show up in other places slowly, but here in Cran's Crossing, this is the new normal, the day to day, and isn't strange to any whom live here.
