Dshaeli Fibh {Dragon Captain} Rank/Title in Tariek Rough Collection | World Anvil

Dshaeli Fibh {Dragon Captain}

"T'e Iron Dragons be nae place fer ye ta try an' buy favors or use yer name and its weight laddie. Gnolundi, an' nae of us give ta shites. Where ye came from nae matter. Yer name means nothin'. Yer coin means nothing. Ye can't buy or diplomacy yer way in. Ye certainly can't buy yerself position as an officer. Ye've only one way in. Sweat, an impressive and highly touted record o' military service, startin' at the very bottom. We've nae desire for prissy nobles and t'e rich that play at war. The only men and women we wish to count among our ranks? The ones who have shown a career of loyal service with skill, distinction, commitment an' promise. We nae care about rank, an' be it three years or thirty, if we think the talent be there, we'll bring ya in. But nae-body an' I mean absolutely nae-one, gets ta start as an officer in t'is unit. Ye earn it. Ye earn it wit' loyalty, blood, sweat, commitment an' skill. Ye earn it wit' tha respect o' yer fellow brothers and sisters in t'e unit. T'at's it, t'at be t'e only way."

Dshaeli Fibh Andros Fornuss, Iron Dragons 2nd company to a recruit seeking to buy their way into an officer rank.

Dshaeli Fibh, also known as Dragon Captains, are a middle ranking officer within the Iron Dragons, generally in command of two hundred or so men and women, a company. Such a position is a fine example of the new age of military composition that is becoming the standard across Suranth and even all of Valerick. The idea of the son of a noble buying their way into a cushy officer's position is becoming a thing of the past, much to the outrage and chagrin of those old established families, the 'old money' of Valerick. Strategically as an era of growth and industrialization begins, many nations see the inherent weakness in allowing such people to buy their way into such positions, when they've little or even no true military training or understanding.
