Chief Barchas Toragmac Holvani
This middle aged dwarf is the picture of regality and nobility, keeping his thick mane of dull copper-brown hair clean cut, well brushed and in fine order. His moustache and beard are equally as well kept, straight, sleek and oiled. He stands of a slightly shorter and a bit smaller of frame then is normal for his kin. His soft grey-green eyes remind many of the ocean. He wears very few marks of aging, but shows a few upon his face, the beginnings of the leathering and wrinkling one would expect upon an older dwarf. He has just seen the beginning of his third century of life. His demeanor and attitude is known to match, for a dwarf he is polite and quite diplomatic. A shrewd negotiator and problem solver, he is known to be a trusted correspondent of High King Cormac for his diplomatic expertise. Indeed it is in Lakvyer where many diplomats from Raechin or Depenwood, particularly Depenwood, are first entertained and negotiated with, at the Holvani estate. From there, Barchas will ply them, wine and dine them as only a dwarf can, with polite diplomatic behavior, yet with the energy and rowdiness that a dwarven assertive attitude and demeanor can invoke. He mixes these so well, like the finest of bartenders, and is well known for this unique skillset.
Barchas is also well known for another oddity among dwarves, which is that he has fought, but not with smokepowder or melee weapons, or even crossbows. Instead he is known to be a highly skilled archer, preferring a recurve bow, as he is also a skilled rider. The common folk, as should be in his mind, see him in a light above the common, for though he is honest, level headed and just, he keeps his social distance from the common folk, unlike some of his peers. He's not the sort you'll see out in the taverns with regular soldiers or townsfolk drinking. He keeps things at a more formal level, and keeps some distance, believing governance requires a degree of separation.
