Battered Skull Range
This wooded and mountainous plateau, housing a handful of volcanoes, though none have been active in centuries, is a place that many in Suranth's political and military elite desire to expand to encompass and settle for the resources available. Such stone and volcanic plateaus are always mineral and ore rich places, places of wealth and plenty for those who know well the skills of harvesting earthen resources. However this is no easy task, for the range gets its name for the many and varied Joten and Green-Skin tribes that inhabit these places, and their brutal tendencies. The number of these creatures within the region, hiding in the caves and tunnels, is unknown and likely higher than any would think. So tapping such a worthwhile location for resources is no small order, and to this point, has not yet been tried, being deemed logistically impossible with the need to shore up the gains already made by the Suranthi peoples. But the last few decades have seen a shift in public opinion suggesting the people are ready yet again for such a bold move towards their nation's growth and prosperity, and many believe if King Cormac does not do it, as is expected due to his age, his successor will likely make their first action to rally the banners and forces for such a march.
However, mere green-skins and Joten kind are not the only threats, and it is unknown what dark things live in the tunnels warmed by the volcanic activity, those close to such places, and it is believed by those of a magical scholarly understanding that parts of, or perhaps the whole range are tainted, the lands scarred by the Sundering, bearing the effects of such madness. Places suffering from Abyssal Wounds are of course a great danger, and not one to be taken lightly.
