Portable Steam Engine

The Portable Steam Engine was invented 100 years after the original steam engine. Portable steam engines work on a fundamentally different method to the non-magical large-scale variant that inspired them. Portable steam engines weigh roughly 50 lbs empty, 100 lbs full, 1 to 2 feet long, and are approximately 0.5 cubic foot in volume. They run off of a liquid fuel called Slurry, a mixture of coal, water, and alchemy; and use magitech and a Power Stone as a magical catalyst to convert this fuel into locomotion.   While portable steam engines are a modern marvel they do have limitations. The most notable limitation is scalability. A fundamental limit of magictech and power stones limits the power output of any given magitech device. As such, portable steam engines are only useful for powering things on the scale of a single person, such as a motorcycle or power armor.   Portable steam engines are sometimes referred to as cold steam engines as they run at a much cooler temperature than a traditional steam engine.

Utility

Cold steam engines are used in motorcycles, mechanical horses, and power armor.
