Ashe C2 Episode 65 - The Dark One rises in Westinox
Previously On Liters of Tomorrow...
The battle raged on the deck of the airship the fierce stargazer, Finn and Exatron Saul squared off with artificer fury. Exatron used his strange magical battle golem to hamper spells and blast anyone who came near. Finn, Sava Cogson, and Genesee Red had been abducted the previous day by Saul and his band of mercenaries. The plan was to use the airship to travel off planet and pass off Sava Cogson as his father Cog. Saul either didn't know he had the wrong warforged or didn't care, he was going to collect the bounty.
Finn escaped a magical armor disruptor trap and freed himself. The rest of the team, alerted by Thurlis Stem, climbed aboard the airship to assist. As the battle wore on a deadly stalemate formed. The warlock Giles lay unmoving on the deck as well as several of the mercenaries. Blood flowed from many wounds. At a critical point the astromancer Archos and a new acquaintance, the Owlkin Kravix, climbed up to the airship. After assessing the situation the joined in. Archos repulsed two mercenaries threatening Mausim catching them in Mausim's gust of wind and sending one of them hurtling off of the ship. Kravix turned into a giant spider and crept along the side of the ship grabbing the second mercenary and dragging him into the portside turbine. Archos also returned giles to life with a quick healing spell.
Things turned in your favor as the great Firbolg barbarian, Orik tore into the remaining forces. Giles returned to action with some eldritch blasts and Crashe faced off against the dangerous but beautiful Natali Irkingthand. Finn cast haste on himself and then stacked it with an Up Tempo spell from Archos. In a dangerous and furious gambit he tore into Exatron Saul knowing that in moments he would crashe from the extra violent energy.
Mausim forced the golem back towards the edge of the ship using his wind powers and telekinetic mage hand. Once close enough Kravix dragged the golem off of the ship with a surge of giant spider strength. Unfortunately he watched as the powerful magically infused golem hit the portside turbine and exploded into a ball of energy destroying the engine and sending the airship into a downward spin. With the airship listing and rapidly descending the combat turned into a scramble for safety. Orik collected several civilians and Genesee Red and herded them to safety on the feather fall lifeboat. Crashe in a bizarre sword dance love ritual found himself in the embrace of Natali and the two stopped fighting and began to make out.
With his last bit of strength and speed Finn rocked Saul with a final blow rendering him unconscious. He used his remaining energy to bind his nemesis with his magical rope and tied his lower legs to the remaining engine strut. As the ship descended ever faster towards the city below, Finn cast feather fall on Saul slowing his descent. The resulting physics tore Saul's Lower legs from under his knees. As finn faded into black, coming down from his magical speed, he smiled hearing the screams of Exatron Saul as he took in the horror of his legs. A dark mirror to his own deeds the previous day when he had done the same to Sava Cogson.
Mausim and Crashe with the help of Kravix, now changed to giant eagle, maneuvered the airship over the river instead of the city of Westinox. The Fierce Stargazer crashed into the water and sank to the riverbed under the waves.

Plot points/Scenes
Main Goals for this session: Contact the Eyes of the Basilisk and marshall forces against the Dark One. Nuth Welker has the mask of the basilisk and has attuned to it. This will let him see other members of the Eyes that operate in the city. Most of these are wealthy executives who seek to fend off the end of the world so that they can continue their business operations.
They are led by a demon who is trapped in one of the mansions in the city center. He has slowly grown his influence over the last several hundred years and he formed the Eyes so that he can find a way to free himself from his binding spell. So far he has only increased the binding by a few hundred feet.
He will try to convince the team to give him the Arcane focus shaped like a Horse head statue. This focus will allow him to free himself from his binding. He offers the team a crew of workers who will dredge up the airship from the river and help to reassemble it. He assumes Finn can repair the magical flying devices, his men know little of such things.
Sava Cogson has news that Cog will meet with Finn and the team. He is in the Dreiduaras Dome, an ancient city in the Northwest of Oraheim. Though Cog has a safehold in the underside of the city they ancient city is now under the control of the dragon known as Pontelicus Ver’ Krull - A Blue dragon that is said to inhabit the Dreiduaras Dome of Oraheim. He now commands an army of Slaad and other creatures who worship him like a god. Use Blue dragon lair features as well throughout the ancient city.
Other obstacles are a warband of elves who have broken off from the governmental structures of Oraheim. This faction is led by Inorauslav the vampire king and his vassal a Namor like figure by the name of

Westinox
The team is looking for the Eyes of the Basilisk, the secretive organization that was created to fight the Dark One. It is led by a demon who is trapped in a mansion in the center of the city. They will be pleased to hear of the team's victory over Vernabogge and may reward them in some way. Their leader, Anak Kovara, may decide to meet with them. He is close to his goal of freeing himself from his velvet cage and may need the Arcane Focus that they left in the carriage in Warshaw. The team will get a chance to see through his illusion and may sense that he is a demon with a singular agenda.
The Dark Friends in the city will also be tasked with stealing the rest of the team's identities and memories with more Tannelmimics. They were informed by Lord Vedemire Darkhorse that the team may return and that their goal remains. Steal their faces and memories and then kill the originals. Genesee Red will be able to help Finn with his armor project. She should have access to rare metals for a price, she will also be amenable to renewing a romance with Finn.
Thurlis Stem is still in the city recuperating, one of his legs was amputated and he lost his left eye. He is Currently staying at the Lodestone Inn in Central Westinox.
The Daughters of Light -
A religious order dedicated to Vellenox, they only accept females. They are a backlash to the Adherents of Iron, the religious zealots who said they were clerics of Eigeralon. The truth is they were devoted to the evil creature known as Anaxis. When the deception was revealed the order fell apart. After the battle of Penthos many of the higher officers were arrested. With Vellenox being the last god targeted by the Adherents of Iron, the Clerics devoted to her rallied and recruited thousands of new acolytes. One of their main temples is in the city of Westinox.
This organization has been radicalized especially against males. There are rumors that they have been castrating any men that they deem criminals or heretics. They have also set up an adversarial relationship with the Clerics of Eigeralon and the EMP.

The headquarters gifted to the team after their defeat of the Gingerbread Dragon and Ionn Castaliogne. When they arrive they will find their butler still stationed there and a white mask on the couch in the center of the room. The rest of the castle above seems deserted, all valuables have been removed and it looks like no one has been in residence in months. It has taken on a winter chill and the fireplaces have only ash residue in them.
[DM Note: The mask has been given to them so that they can identify other members of the Eyes of the Basilisk. By placing the mask on your head and attuning with it, it quickly turns invisible and disappears. The wearer can still feel it however. It allows the wearer to see others wearing the masks in the city. These are the secret members of the Eyes who are always in positions of power. Let the mask transmit the Code phrase to the wearer "I see that it grows dark at twilight...". Other mask wearers will have a sigil glowing on their foreheads, a purple blue basilisk that hovers an inch off of the skin. The imprint on the front of the mask.]
When the other mask wearer is identified the team can try to get information out of them. The member will set up a meeting and at the meeting Anak Kovara will allow a meeting. He wants the Arcane Focus in return for his help.
