Kriig'mah Titan

Written by CrazyJack

Summary

The Kriig'mah Titan is a legendary creature that supposedly lives in Lake Kriig'mah, in Mirkireth. There have been many alleged sighting of the creature over the ages, and the creatures is supposedly gargantuan, hence its name. The Kriig'mah Titan is said to be so large that it could swallow a ship whole, and feeds on the some of the large creatures that inhabit the lake. These sightings have never been proven, and many scholars argue against the existence of the beast. The Krelka Alasz Paédor Elf Clan, believe that the titan is an ancient being of incredible power, and sacrifice to the lake monthly.

Historical Basis

Many believe that the titan is the last of an ancient species that was created during the long ages of origin before the beginning of recorded history. Accounts of the Kriig'mah Titan date back to the First Age (The Age of the High Kingdom), when Elven explorers from Laédin first reached the lake.

Spread

The Myth is widely known in Mirkireth and surrounding regions.

Variations & Mutation

Eye witness accounts of the Kriig'mah Titan tend to vary, although most describe some sort of giant sea serpent or dragon, the size of the creature is still argued. Supposed sightings of the creature have have put it anywhere from ten metres long to hundreds of metres long. All sources say though, that the creature could easily attack and devour a ship, the number of disappearances on the rough waters of the lake also encourage these rumours.

Cultural Reception

The Krelka Alasz clan believe the creature to be some sort of ancient, all powerful being that is thousands of years old, the frequent rumbling and seismic activity around the lake are also believed by the Paédor to be the titan, although many scholars disagree, saying that it is purely seismic and magical activity. Nevertheless, the Paédor clan still sacrifices to the lake on a full moon of every month, hoping to appease the creature, and gain favour. The other Paédor clans are mixed as to their belief in the titan, and the High Elves and Humans in surrounding regions pay no mind to the myth.
