Natale

One of the four festivals that breaks up the year for the subjects of the Kingdom of Tronde, the Festival of Natale celebrates the passing of autumn into winter.

History

A hold over from the old religion of the Empire of Thirsk the festival is one of the more well known holidays in The Kingdom of Tronde. It evolved from old druid rituals following the setting of the sun and the beginning of the first snows. The rituals were created to ward off evil spirits and ensure that the people would have enough food to last through the winter.     Over time the rituals gave way to games and parties celebrated by all the inhabitants of Breah and the surrounding area. Today it is mostly associated with kindness for others, neighborhood parties and watching special Natale shows.     It is officially celebrated for thirteen days, with children receiving a present on each day from the Celestial Babu Natale. On the thirteenth day, followers of the Church of Sunlight will cast their wishes and desires for the next year into candles. They will then release these "wish candles" to float along the Golden River into the the Bay of Light     The climax of the celebrations are in the final hours of the Thirteenth day with wizards and sorcerers collecting from all over the Kingdom and beyond to put on one of the largest displays of illusion magic on the continent in great Natale shows where the Ancient Prometheans fight the great White Dragons in fallow fields to show the promise of the end of winter and the melting of the snows while great balls of light explode across the sky depicting the history of the kingdom and of Talor.
