The Academy at The Rookery
The Academy is the school system located and run by Rook, Inc.. Each complex has it's own schools where students can learn a variety of skills, the most fundamental of which is flying.
Students are encourage to get the full education that they desire. They can attend a college prep track, athletic track, trade track, magical track, courier track, etc. If a student has a special talent, or skillset, the school will bring in whatever educator they can to help them to attain the highest level they choose.
Students are encouraged to remain with Rook, Inc. after completing their time at the Academy. A large number of students do choose to remain. Those that don't are given assistance from Rook, Inc. to pursue their own goals.
Among the most popular education tracks is that of Courier for Rook, Inc. Courier training usually takes anywhere from one year for Class I to four years for Class IV and some of the specialized tracks. This training includes martial training specially designed for winged combatants and incorporates ways to safely use ones wings in combat as well as how to avoid wing damage. It also includes a wide variety of phsyical and magical training in use when able, and how to defend against. Couriers are provided with the appropriate level of magical defense when on company business, and some defenses when they are not on duty as well. Rook, Inc. is well known for how well they care for their students and employees.
While each Academy is slightly different, they all have some basic characteristics. Students can either be day students or boarding students. Both boarding students and day students are free to eat at the student cafeteria for up to three meals a day. Older boarding students share rooms in a suite-style. Each student has a small private room and shares a bathroom with an adjoining room. While the floors are co-ed, the rooms are not. Students live and train in the central tower of the complex. The younger boarding students sleep four to a room with an older student who is paid as a room supervisor. They have one bathroom for the room.

Founded in 2040 at the same time as the New Houston Rookery, the purpose of The Academy was to draw wingers and really any winged supernatural into a community which would provide for them.
