Atlantis

Atlantis's magnetic properties led many a ship and plane to its shores in the phenomena known to the pre new magic era world as the bermuda triangle.   One of the planes drawn to Atlantis by their rebellious compasses belonged to a famous airwoman known as Amelia Earhart. Rather than perishing in a plane crash as was assumed after her disappearance, she decided to stay in Atlantis. Much like many others who were drawn to Atlantis. Its culture was based on magic that they were still able to practice. Outsiders like Amelia had never seen magic and upon seeing it, real magic, for the first time none ever chose to leave. Her children and grandchildren still live there to this day.   Magic was on Atlantis all through the nonmagical era and it is area of study for many magic specialists.

Geography

While technically classified as an archipelago, Atlantis comprised of one large island in the shape of a classic oval and a second smaller islet. All of the land on Atlantis is paved in very large curved tiles in a dark slate color with visible layers striations that when in the right light glow with a violet pearlescent sheen. The only dirt being sand caught in the cracks or collected purposefully into a garden in a place where two or more of the tiles meet. Atlantis is itself a singular hill, rising to a small height in the center and sloping off to the waterline elsewhere. The same being applicable to the smaller island. Due to this sloping nature most of the sand collects toward the coasts creating a ring of beach all the way around with the short beach grasses but the only trees are young sprouts. The coast drops off immediately past the beach on the long sides of the island with virtually no shallow area and no sandbar to mark the drop. Were one to dive and explore they would find a thriving reef of corals and sponges attached to a ledge before another dropoff. This ledge looks mostly like dark gray sand but were one to look more closely they might catch a glimpse of transluscent purple stone, reflecting light, though there were many corals and plants to block it. Almost as if it were giving off a warm glow instead. There is one shallow area between Atlantis and the small island though swimmers beware for while the current is regular the rip tide past the drop off is known to drag swimmers away to either crash upon the rocky edges of the small island or far out into the sea. The small island is also ovular but is more wide than long when compared to atlantis which is more long than wide. It is also a hill with a sharp drop off at the coast however its dropoff is sharp in more than one sense of the word. The small island is surrounded on all sides but one by craggy outcroppings pointing out into the sea at would be docked boats or swimmers the only reliable way to the island is along the shallower path directly between it and atlantis.   Atlantis and the small island both, look more manmade than naturally occurring.

Localized Phenomena

The location of Atlantis was always an unanswerable mystery pre new magic era. After, the answer was revealed to be that atlantis is a moving island.   Atlantis rose from the sea floor again when, specialists assume, enough magic was able to support the island again. Those with a sharp eye may notice the purple sheen to the tiled landscape or the cloudy purplish crystals that can be found along the coastline known as the Blood of Atlantis.   Specialsist presume that Atlantis and its accompanying Small Island were created at the height of magic in the first magic era and that these crystals are embued with a special as of yet non recreatable type of magic that supports the islands and allows them to move float freely along the currents of the oceans.   The island tends to avoid storms of severe magnitude but if avoiding one is unlikely the island has been recorded and submerging to the top of the tallest building and letting the storm pass over   This habit has required the Atlantean to adapt to function first like seals able to hold their breath for up to two hours and then for as their society developed underwater to be like sea turtles able to absorb some oxygen from water through areas with a high density of blood vessels, such as inside the throat, extending their ability to hold their breath up to 12 hours before needing to either return to their homes or find an air tank to survive.   Atlantis has its own magnetic field, this does not extend much further beyond its coast but when in the vicinity compasses would point to it instead of north. This foiled many a theorists imaginings when it explained what caused so many disappearances in the bermuda triangle. That had been the resting place of Atlantis before there was enough magical energy in the world to again support its surfacing.

Fauna & Flora

The Atlantean Sibah

This creature has become an new legend almost as well known as the one of the sunken island of Atlantis. The Atlantean Sibah is an increadibly rare semi-aquatic lizard. Shaped much like an armadillo lizard with a club at the end good for dazing fish or waterfoul, but the closer to the size of a crocodile. The spines on this creature are a dark purply color with the spines on the club matching. These Atlantean Sibah have only been spotted near Atlantis but rarely ever at the islands themselves making them very hard to find

Natural Resources

The Blood of Atlantis a cloudy purplish crystal that can be found along the coastline.   It has unique magical properties that at once give it use as an engery source for fueling certain spells while also providing the longest lasting magical storage vessel. It has the longest time for containing a spell before it leaks out aka expiring.   The blood of Atlantis gives off a small amount of magic in its raw form. Almost any kind of magic wielder can hold the blood of atlantis and supplement their spells with the energy from the crystal.
