Chahua

Miss Chahua Leead Zhu (a.k.a. The One Woman Machine Of Destruction)

The Nature of being as massive, multi-ethnic and cosmopolitan a nation as Kanda is to have all manner of strange travelers that get trapped, for one reason or another, within its borders.
Unlike many children "This One's" story begins long before she was born; when The Theocracy of Eldin truly closed up their borders, snuffing out all but the most capable of smugglers and fence jumpers.
One such man from The Western Kingdom by the name of Lee of the House of Zhu was trapped in Kanda after the rising of the Decades Blockades and found shelter in Shar Essaro as Marcosia Essaro's newfound Master Of Orchards.   That man settled down in a Gume all his own with a single plan; destroy the Eldinia and open the way to the West once again.
And to do that he would use all of the Western medical and magical knowledge he knew... to BIRTH a weapon that could ensure his goals were met.   He Named That Weapon Chahua!

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Almost perfectly in line with the body shape and height that the Kandia would imagine from the Hu Lao of the Western Kingdom, Chahua stands nearly half a foot shorter than the average Kandia woman, though is perhaps 20% broader at the shoulder than the average woman seemingly just to break the mold.   With a subtly curvy frame that does little to hide her musculature, this Daughter Of The West possesses muted bronze skin and long hair that she occasionally puts up in fantastic styles but more often leaves in a single braid behind her to swing out of the way or potentially into pigtail buns. (As Shown Above)   Perpetually possessing a resting expression of being chronically unimpressed and a touch irritated, Chahua's quiet but stern demeanor puts off an air of confidence and security just standing still in the center of an empty room; a sort of unique, spiritual presence beyond her control that others can't help but feel intimidated by as she idles on, waiting for the next opportunity to fulfill her purpose.

Identifying Characteristics

Nearly everything about Chahua is identifiable in the Empire Of Kanda.
First and foremost, her existence as an obvious westerner is one of the few ethnically related factors that actually seem to matter in Kanda.
While Kanda has always been a drastically multi-ethnic nation, Westerners are NOT part of the average population and Chahua legitimately ranks one in several tens of thousands by being so clearly a Daughter Of The West.
Regardless of what the normal racial bias in Kanda may be or whether or not she's ever been outside of Shar Essaro, she "Looks Asian" and nobody can look past that in Kanda, as Westerners are so very rare in this day and age.   Beyond her immediate ethnic identity as a Westerner, Chahua's cloudy, stormy gray eye mark her to MOST as a blind woman, though she can see just fine.
That being said, it's her most independently recognizable feature, immediately clear to anyone who sees her face.   Finally Chahua's straight, flowing, calf length hair is so noticeable as to put most Kandia women to shame and envy.
Even Ginger, every now and then, gets jealous of the perfect straightness and near floor length of her best friend's hair.
Considering that Chahua refuses to let her hair be cut under any circumstances and sees her hair as a mark of pride, anyone can identify her in a crowd due to her extremely long and obviously foreign hair of raven blue.

Special abilities

Because of the many alterations brought upon by her father from even before she was born, Chahua can only be realistically called "Superhuman!"
She possesses incredible strength for her size, superhuman dexterity and a mind that can quickly and easily process even difficult information at a moment's notice.
Her incredibly dense anatomy allows the otherwise small and unassuming young woman to weigh several times that of similarly sized peers.
This imparts her with superhuman endurance and durability the likes of which others in The Twenty-Five simply cannot contend with.
So great are her reaction speeds that she can easily track bullets in flight and casually respond to them in the moment.   Her internal organs all function considerably better than the norm, things like her liver and kidneys able to process down much stronger toxins than the average human.
She EVEN Has a Backup Heart; a surgically implanted magical organ that her father embedded into her torso when her mother was pregnant. (Presumably with a really long needle?)
This second heart of unknown composition is situated somewhere within the bulk of Chahua's intestines and is functionally a backup heart, though it contains many more secrets than merely pumping blood; made of strange materials from The Distant West that Lee brought with when he came to visit Kanda as a diplomat over twenty years ago.
Suffice to say even Chahua is not yet fully aware of the identity of all her abilities, as her father has informed her that her true potential should not blossom until she is in her twenties.
That being said, she holds many mystical powers and physical abilities that allow her to stand physically over all the others in The Twenty-Five.   Beyond the strictly physical Chahua does not disappoint!
Because of her heritage, descended from a cloud Spirit, Chahua has an inherent connection to The Divine, though lacks any spark as some more closely related children might possess.
Able to sense spirits and detect deities in motion, she has some inherent resistance to the tricks and traps of those constructed from The Divine.
More than that, Chahua has a natural connection to both The Wellspring via The Gift AND an inherent connection to The Rafef; well practiced in both not only for the sake of her everyday activities but with the keen understanding that eventually they will need to be used to their utmost.
Indeed Chahua spends much of what little free time she has meditating on The Rafef and honing her magical and mental abilities, able to carry on conversations with people halfway across the planet or create hybrid Rafef Spells that can alter the fundamental functioning of reality around her if need be.   Trained since birth in the full spectrum of Western martial arts by her father alongside a never ending set of tests and trials to measure her progress, Chahua has an expert understanding of Chi and its uses, both practical and theoretical.
Able to freely control her own life force as a weapon, she can call upon all manner of supernatural abilities with which most Kandia have no experience; Multiplying her strength, adding durability to her already impressively damage resistant physique, leaping great distances with casual ease, breaking through solid walls with her bare hands and consciously healing herself through concentration. (Among Many Other Tricks!)
Not only is her capacity to perform such superhuman feats without question among the Twenty-Five but her mastery of such subjects are sufficient enough to have already started teaching others how to utilize Chi as well, giving her fellow Tangia Enbria the capacity to produce simple tricks that catch their fellow Kandia off guard.

Apparel & Accessories

Of all of Ta Tangia Enbria Chahua probably has the most culturally diverse array of clothing.
While she certainly has her fair share of standard Kandia tulia she also has many pairs of western style training trousers, fur gowns, multi-piece outfits in the style of all manner of cultures and several giant hats! (Though she seldom wears any of it as often as her fellow Enbria encourage)
While certainly filled with different colors, it's apparent to all that know her that Chahua leans most toward rich blues, striking reds and deep emerald hues.   Since she shuns most standard feminine conventions in the Kanda Culture she seldom worries about people judging her for wearing pants or carrying swords and chains around the Shar, though she understands she's not allowed outside of the Shar with her favorite blades.
Even if she were to care about what others thought of her, which is rare at best, Chahua's preference toward trousers and other decidedly "Darobia" clothing is not often held against her, as her status as a Daughter Of The West cushions her from many such stigmas even if she's never actually been to the realm of her father's birth.

Specialized Equipment

While Chahua has a festival of specialized gear her pride and joy is a highly ornate 36 Inch double edged straight sword in Western Kingdom style that she can often be seen practicing with.
Used in one hand, the blade is damascened and she claims it is magical, though she will not say what sort of enchantments were used upon the weapon when it was crafted.
Allegedly it is her great grandfather's blade from long before she was born and now her father has gifted it to her, having having told her throughout her entire life that, when she became a woman grown, she would receive the blade.
On her 16th birthday, as promised but also as a gift to celebrate her acceptance as a member of The Twenty-Five, her father bestowed upon her her the Zhu Family Blade and gave her his blessing to study under Marek Of War-Saw; to begin bringing him into the plans of The Western Kingdom's House Of Zhu!   Chahua also possesses a pair of unique weapons from The Distant West that roughly resemble extremely fine, thin chains of shimmering metal roughly 20 feet long with single foot long, triple edged blades at the end of each.
Swung through the air with superhuman precision and requiring superhuman senses and dexterity to handle properly, Chahua may or may not be the only person in Kanda capable of using these proficiently.
The blades at the end are extremely streamlined and Chahua claims they're magically enchanted to kill much more efficiently.
Constructed with some sort of rare metal found only in the Mountains Of Eternity, the chains of these weapons are able to carry several tons without straining or snapping, allowing the Daughter Of The West to use them to swing about in combat or just to traverse obstacles.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Well before her life began, over twenty years ago, Chahua's father came with a diplomatic embassy to Kanda to continue the time honored tradition of their two nations sending the very best to pamper each other with praise and goodwill.
Heir to his house, his family Scion to the Imperials themselves, he gladly took a place in the expedition to the far east to live a few months in the lap of Kandia Luxury and tell fanciful stories of his home to the new Kandar.
Peace was falling over the four great powers of the world and, while there were all sorts of rabble rousers trying to ruin the good times of all, Lee Zhu had been sure that these interlopers would be stamped out soon enough.
How wrong he had been.   While traveling back to the border after a glorious visit, however, the Caravan was stopped by the Eldinia... and demanded to convert to the local faith before being allowed travel through the land.
Not understanding, the Caravan Master stated that they would of course pay the appropriate offerings to whatever travel deities required it...
But the Eldinia response to this was to call the man a Worshipper Of False Gods and impale him upon a spear before them.   The fighting was brutal.
Viciously outnumbered by religious zealots, they fought their way back to a Kandia checkpoint whereupon the good Leconia of The World's Civilization drove back the enemy... but thereafter The Way To The West was shut.
Just days later he heard news that The Strait Of Youth had also been taken, his route home gone for good.   The War, such as it was, ended up being short and fruitless.
Chafed from the other conflicts he had just put to rest and faced with a populace wearied by war and ravaged by civil conflicts between he and the pretender Kandar that came before him, Kandar Lucus was forced to allow the Eldinia to keep their routes to the West, instead accepting all those displaced by The Decades Blockades (On official business) into his nation as Honorary Kandia Without Land Rights, that their children would be able to fight for Kanda and earn land for their parents.
Laws were passed to protected the cultural standards of these refugees, to encourage them not only to see Kanda as their new home but also to see it as a place where they could be comfortable to bring their old homes.
Having made good friends with one Marcosia Marcosad Esaro, the bruised and battered westerner was able to get his acquaintance to convince the Kandar to grant him his own land by ownership... for his position in his own realm was far higher than a mere traveler.   Begrudgingly the Kandar granted Lee Zhu a simple Gume in Shar Esaro.
And there he took up the role of Marcosia's new Master Of Orchards and set himself up a lodge on the mountainside from which hot water spilled out and was caught to make a Western Themed Bathhouse and Lodge which would attract all manner of eager customers.
And at that little business he made he met the woman who would become his wife, Olivia.   With her name meaning "Belonging To Olives," her grandfather had been the previous Master Of Orchards, now retired and having left his granddaughter, the last of his line, with his small grove.
She was innocent and sweet, caring and outgoing while he was reserved and aloof, highly educated and deeply broken from the loss of his homeland.
So she came to his lodge one day to ask if they could work together, if he needed an assistant to help germinate the strange seeds he'd brought from his homeland.
While resistant at first he begrudgingly allowed her to build a garden with him...
And over the years the garden flourished... and so did their affections for each other!   He had confided in her, relied on her, cried on her shoulder at night.
He HATED Kanda; the culture, the food, the open practices so full of debauchery and gossip.
All he desired was to return home and show her what wonders his realm held!
And she supported him in his aspirations.
She saw how much it hurt him to be away from his people, even as her own had accepted him as their own.
So she asked what had to be done to make his dream come true.   So they planned.
Limited in their capacity to make change on a grand scale, they realized they had to set their trust in the next generation... in a legacy.
So Lee Zhu revealed to Olivia what he'd really been back in his country... the best torturer and medical practitioner of the land, answerable only to the Dragon Emperor himself.
Gardening, she learned, had been a mere hobby.
In his practice he'd created all manner of magical concoctions, developed new chemical techniques and discovered much about the human body that others could not imagine.
If she were to carry his child, he would create within Olivia a machine made to destroy Eldin and bring them to the glory of The Western Kingdom once again... opening the way for all!   So Olivia weathered nine agonizing months of torture; experimented upon, poked, prodded, injected with foul smelling liquids that burned her insides, implanted with unknown substances that would bind to her unborn child and turn the poor thing into a monster.
Sadly, by the time the baby came, she was too weak to survive the birth.
Her last words to Lee were as follows,
"Don't forget that our daughter, like us, is merely human. You may have made her into a machine... but please do remember to give her a life worth living once she has served the purpose for which she was made. She is not merely the result of your experiments, My Darling. She is the product of our love for each other; of my love for you and of yours for me."   Having lost the one person that made life in Kanda bearable, Lee Zhu would spend the next decade or so tending numbly to his duties.
He had a daughter to raise, a machine to break in... a weapon to hone.
Knowing nothing more than this life, Chahua grew up practicing not how to sew, sing and swoon but how to work, how to fight, how to win!
Superhuman in constitution and capability, it was not safe to let her play with the other children when she was young and by the time she was old enough to restrain herself she was no longer interested in such things; dedicated to the complete mastery of her Father's Mission.   By nine months old little Chahua was already walking and talking, though her father publicly lamented that she was not meeting HIS standards for growth.
Though she was a bit clumsy for her father's preferences, all parents in Shar Esaro marveled at her progress, comparing the little Daughter Of The West to their own children adn setting goals that their progeny could never hope to meet with just as little committment as a dog with a bone; to be abandoned as soon as they proved to hard or time consuming.
By her first birthday Lee had hired a dozen different tutors to start teaching the girl as much as they could even at her young age; showing her different letters, reciting mathematics to her, informing her of the goings on of the world outside of her little home in intricate detail and instructing her in all of the languages she would need to know to carry out her father's goals.
And, alongside those grand and expensive tutors who would enforce so many things into her already difficult future... he got her a dog; a faithful Hound named Striker who would become like her little brother, her "Feeling Heart Dog."   By her second birthday Chahua was already being taught acrobatics, practical combat drills, meditation and other forms of far western discipline that would set her apart from her peers.
However, one day Lee saw her staring at some children playing on a hill and when he called her she did not at first respond.
Later he realized that his daughter needed some sort of friend... but who?
So he went to the House Of Stasucto and spoke to the famed artist and smuggler Primus and the two introduced their daughters.
Primus was well reputed for having smuggled himself (through means he would not share with anyone!) all the way through Eldin to reach the Western Kingdom, having carried out the same wild gamble on the way back after having studied masonry and wood carving skills from the practitioners of the distant west.
Two years her senior, the older Ginger quickly attached to Chahua, spending more and more time seeking out her attention as they grew older.
And soon they became inseparable.   When she was in town and Chahua was not on a training venture into the mountains with her father Ginger would spend much of her time with the girl, learning Hu-Lao and talking about fancy carvings and sculptures from The Western Kingdom that her father had reproduced after his return.
When Ginger made her first big sale as a Partanar, it was at the Lodge of Shar Zhu that her family celebrated.
And every year, when Chahua's birthday came around, The House Of Stasucto would host her and her father and hold the grandest of celebrations.
In time her connection with Ginger would become so close that it would transcend simple friendship and venture into the far more intimate, though the Daughter Of The West was loathe to admit it if asked.   However, other than her deeply familiar relationship with The Heir Of Stasucto, Chahua spent her formative years in the seclusion of training and helping her father with his duties.
She would wake just before dawn, do chores with her father, train, then eat and bathe. (Typically at the same time!)
After bathing it would be time to meditate, then practice her academics, eat more, train more WHILE practicing her academics, do more chores, practice more academics, eat Even More, train EVEN MORE and Study EVEN MORE and then one last session of light workout before bed.
The very next day she would start the schedule once again.
Every day was the same; a constant life of training with one duty in mind, her sole purpose in life...   TO DESTROY THE THEOCRACY OF ELDIN!
TO END THE EXISTENCE OF THEIR "ONE AND ONLY GOD" AND OPEN THE WAY FOR NOT ONLY HER FATHER BUT ALL PEOPLE OF THE WEST TO RETURN HOME!   She was not born a person...
She Was Made A Weapon!
As she grew, isolated but NOT sheltered from the politics of Kanda and the culture therein, Chahua developed her own very personal perspective on life.
She lived simply but with complex goals and ends in mind.
She stayed humble and endeavored toward self perfection in all things but was never afraid to humble those that she judged in need of correction.
From Ginger, at her father's orders, Chahua began to learn of the feminine ways of Kanda and how to endear herself to others. (Though it never quite caught on as he'd hope)
And finally, upon the arrival of Marek Of War-Saw, Chahua's father gave to her the specific order to go to him and either demand marriage or training.
Chahua was all too satisfied to hear that Marek Of War-Saw cared not for a demure woman.
He wanted THINKING, ACTING women who would work for him in dangerous scenarios and become far more than mere objects to be traded back and forth in arranged marriages.   The deception was relayed to her father, who relished in the idea of The Twenty-Five, of a lady spy army that could be trained underground and used to deliver upon The Bringer Of Fertility's ways.
He bid her to stay with Marek, to do whatever he required of her... to NEVER forget her purpose in life and to remember that Marek Of War-Saw would, in time... become privvy to such things!
Leaving her scheming father behind but never falling out of touch with him, Chahua moved in with the rest of The Twenty-Five, quickly rising the ranks through both academia and combat prowess, taking the role of Second Of The Twenty-Five shortly after the organization was founded and maintaining the role to this day.   Eventually Marek Of War-Saw did indeed become aware of her father's plans but, to Lee's delight, The Bringer Of Fertility was more than interested in helping them meet their goals.
More than that, Chahua has become closer to Marek than most, helping him train with The Rafef and integrating herself into his inner circle.
No longer merely a skilled young killing machine, Marek has trained Chahua over the past several months into a capable spy and proper source of valuable assistance to the people not only of Shar Esaro but of the surrounding Gal, lending her services to the Goddess Venara in order to restore the Bringer's ancestral connection to the deity of passion and fertility.

Gender Identity

While gender in Kandia culture is a fairly binary affair, as is so often the case, Chahua is the exception to the rule.   While she accepts feminine pronouns and has no problem playing the part of "fine young woman" for the sake of a mission or some nebulous, non-optional social convention, Chahua identifies as neither male nor female.
Indeed, when in a place of control, she almost exclusively refers to herself as "This One" or at best, "A Woman."   To Chahua the idea of gender is neither important nor even considered in the day to day.
She is, in her own mind, merely an object to be utilized against the enemy.
In time she'll be able to consider such things as gender identity and presentation, for her father's culture DOES have the concept, but even when her father has returned home and she has stayed behind to tend to the land that she might legally inherit in his absence there is no doubt that Chahua will have a hard time relating to being either male or female, just as she does now.   By and large she doesn't think about it most days and puts no importance in the idea of gender identity or gender politics.

Education

Chahua is the result of every tutor and private educator that money could buy!
Throughout her childhood her father was extremely determined to work through private channels in arranging all manner of special tutors to teach her early and fast.
Almost akin to some sort of Vulcan Education Center, Chahua lived her formative years with numerous sources of information bombarding her from all directions and demanding of her extremely specific answers while only allowing extremely short response times.   The Daughter Of The West would often be quizzed during combat lessons to divide her attention and put importance on thought before action during stressful scenarios.
The girl would be regularly surprised awake with mock attackers, forced to alter her life around being ambushed at any moment.
She would have random academic tests sprung on her during activities that would otherwise require much of her attention, forced to answer hard questions during obstacle courses before certain routes would become open to her.
It would not be unusual to see her hand walking on tightropes while her tutors demanded answers to complex mathematical problems, all the while her father threw leather balls at her that she would have to dodge or kick out of the way.   Throughout her entire life, Chahua's has been honed to perfection with the hardest of educations, her father breaking every parenting rule in the Empire of Kanda to ensure that she not see herself as a girl or even a human but as A One Woman Machine Of Destruction in body and in mind!   Chahua's seemingly boundless repertoire of diverse abilities does not stop there, as the Daughter Of The West has been taught numerous forms of Magic to be used against her enemies and to aid her allies alike.
Given time and the proper materials she might enchant objects to shoot lasers, (until they explode from the strain) brew strange potions, (most of which taste horrible but objectively work!) and even summon spirits from her homeland that are able to make the journey. (Assuming they care to answer)   She is not, however, known for "flinging spells" as many Mysteria do.
Instead she relies on The Rafef, instinctively instructed by its very existence within her, to reach out and strike at enemies from a distance.
Whenever she gets free time, such as it might be, she trains in the use and contemplation of this esoteric force to ensure she does not fall behind as the strange new power in the universe is mastered by others that might wish ill on her friends and loved ones.   To top it off, Chahua has recently begun learning under Marek Of War-Saw: The Bringer Of Fertility.
Having come from 21st century Poland, The Founder Returned has insisted upon modern, updated educations and intense, personalized training schedules for each of Ta Tangia Enbria to hone the strongest of their respective abilities and eliminate any and all potential weaknesses before they eventually take their places in the field.
While consistently maintaining stellar rankings in almost all intellectual pursuits, (other than statecraft and social combat) Chahua has also quickly become one of Marek's personal favorites for language study and combat lessons, never failing to impress even when given challenging tests or extremely determined groups of opponents.   MOST Recently those Enbria who were not already on mission were left in the caring hands of Isis Smith: The Father Of War, who arrived in Shar Esaro seeking the Bringer Of Fertility's help in preparing not only Kanda but Vaennland and anyone else they could in weathering an incoming Year Without A Summer.
In the several weeks since her arrival, Chahua and all other Enbria have been put through the most rigorous training in their entire lives!
From carrying out horrifying combat scenarios in dozens of feet of snow with minimal cold weather gear to having to actively fight not only a Prime but The Father Of War herself while she peppers the field with rainbow murder disco lasers, Chahua and her peers have been forced to utilize everything they've learned under Marek just to survive their tutelage under the Cyborg Storm Goddess powered by a supermassive black hole.
While this hasn't necessarily taught Chahua anything "new," it HAS taught her not only how to better work with her fellow Enbria but also how to better work against forces naturally more dangerous and capable even than herself, something she'd never had experience with before.   Soon, she understands, not only will she have to attend a brief but tense mission to the Kanda-Vaennland border to discuss peace terms alongside the Kandar himself with the High Queen of The Frozen Peninsula...
But she will thereafter have to set out on a dangerous journey with some of her closest and most capable shadows to reach The Western Kingdom and convince them and all previous allies of Kanda to join together against the Eldinia and bring peace and commerce to the Civilized Realms once again.

Employment

For most of her life Chahua's "Chores" have been working at her father's bathhouse and lodge along the mountainous edge of Shar Esaro.
Taking advantage of the delightful hot springs that flow from the geologically active mountain range that runs down the center of the peninsula, her father has provided quality bathhouse services and exotic epicurian options for the adventurous palate since before she was borne with no signs of stopping any time soon.
While Chahua mostly minds the front and handles money for her father, she has been known to help clean the baths from time to time when her father cannot manage to hire specialists to do so.
Due to the nature of Western Hot Spring And Bathhouse Culture, the lodge's baths need to be emptied and cleaned considerably less often than standard Kandia bathhouses, which has brought no small amount of attention from even those down in the port city below during the height of trade season, as more guests can visit in any given increment of time without having to wait for clean pools.   Until recently Chahua's father has otherwise barred her from taking on proper work except perhaps under the watchful eyes of Marek Of War-Saw potentially the artistic sponsorship of The House Of Stasucto, as evidenced by the fact that three out of every five female statues that Ginger Stasucto has sculpted have used Chahua as the model.
While certainly considered a modest occupation by most Kandia, Ginger and Primus pay her well to pose in perfect stillness for hours at a time and many consider it a fairly comfortable job for someone as young as herself.
That being said, such modeling opportunities do not come terribly often and her father mostly considers them more particularly good reason to maintain close connections with the House Of Stasucto.   Since the destruction of the port city below and the promotion of Sharliv Almindi to Galar in order to take on the repair and reconstruction of the trade nexus, however, Chahua and the rest of Ta Tangia Enbria have taken up part time duties in service to Venara, Kanda's Goddess of Passion And Fertility.
Regularly descending onto the coastline community, such as it remains, her and the Enbria help clean up the rubble and serve food to the needy and vulnerable.
They find children whose parents have died or abandoned them and bring them to DSEC to be raised and educated under The Bringer Of Fertility's finest rather than be taken by wandering slavers or adopted into The Military's Children.
And they locate young women without futures and bring them back to be trained into more Shadows to do The Bringer's bidding, all the while serving a higher goal than any of them know while Venara and The Bringer plot for the future of Kanda.

Intellectual Characteristics

Having spent most of her life in strict training and learning, being literally designed from the womb by her father's experimental machinations, Chahua is a proper genius by almost any definition of the word.
Regardless of what she could have been if she were allowed to come to term naturally, Chahua now spends most of her waking hours immersed in some form of study and shares a strong passion for learning with the other top members of The Twenty-Five, taking Marek Of War-Saw's lessons very seriously and understanding that this is the most freedom that the average woman will get in Kandia Society.   For Chahua, however, this is merely the next step in her much longer journey; always considering, contemplating and constructing new plans and ideas to bring her father's dream to fruition while spying on and potentially neutralizing those that fall into her field of interest.
While deeply reserved, the the young woman is also extremely curious of the outside world and cannot help but to integrate any new addition into her secret world of schemes.
Though this makes her seem to others like a very patient, perceptive and passive sort of person, in actuality she is an extremely aggressive and competitive thinker who is always judging herself based on the performance of others as well as her own past records, making sure that she never falls behind or ends up being less capable than she was yesterday.
Her entire life is built around the intellectual constants of self perfection, self cultivation and maximum competition.
To Chahua there is no such thing as holding back or giving someone a handicap.   THAT would involve sacrificing her own standard of personal excellence and self improvement.
And THAT Sort Of Sacrifice Does NOT A Theocracy Of Eldin Conquer....

Taboos

While perfectly capable of it, Chahua seldom likes to eat food with her hands; strongly preferring utensils of almost any sort as opposed to shoving food in her mouth with her greasy digits.
Hands, in her mind, are implements of death and HER hands are often exposed to no shortage of dirt, blood, sweat and other such goop that nobody would knowingly want in their mouth.
While she will certainly cook and washes her hands profusely when she prepares food, very seldom does anyone see Chahua actually eating without using a fork or spoon.
If given no other option she will be quite content finding two pieces of wood to carve into chopsticks before eating.
For the sake of convenience, she always carries two pairs of chopsticks with her; One pair of metal and the other of bamboo, which her and her father grow on their property.   While perfectly capable of it, Chahua loathes bringing harm to animals of any sort.
Though she understands, perhaps, the need to fight off wild animals that attack or the necessity of cowing guard animals, The Daughter Of The West is firm in her position that animals do not deserve harm for merely acting on their instincts or following the orders of their masters.
Instead Chahua almost always leans on her skill with The Rafef to pacify animals that she encounters on mission, insistent that there is always another way to handle unruly beasts.
People, so she reasons, may do anything to deserve all manner of punishment from their fellows but animals can be little more than what they are and are thus undeserving of ill treatment.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Chahua has been all but DESIGNED by her father to destroy Eldin and open the way to The Western Kingdom for not only her father but for all of Kanda.   Like many women of Kanda she sees herself as an object.
Unlike any women of Kanda, however, she doesn't see herself as the sort of object that one should protect and cherish...
She sees herself instead more as the US Military sees a gun; a precision tool of calculated engineering, honed to perfection by her father and pointed in the right direction to deadly effect.
She will do anything her father tells her to do, even if it will obviously kill her.
Her every drive, at the end of the day, is to continue his legacy and deliver him his desires.   Only when that mission has been completed and her life's purpose fulfilled will she consider what else life might hold for her...

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Chahua is, by all means, a language expert.
She knows more languages than most members of The Twenty-Five and can reproduce nearly any sound she hears with little to no difficulty.
She can, with only the benefit of listening to a few spoken sentences and a few moments of practice, mimic almost any voice perfectly.
The young woman may even learn the style in which someone speaks if she has the opportunity to listen to them throughout a long conversation covering several subjects.   Despite this mastery of language, pitch and tone, however, Chahua is actually quite inept in mainstream political interactions and social combat!
Having been isolated from others for much of her life until recently, Chahua possesses little in the way of social snappiness and her fashion of speaking is often considered somewhat off-putting to high society types otherwise looking for a demure and soft spoken young woman with an exotic family name.
Stilted and rigid in her demeanor, while Chahua can talk to you coherently in at least seven different languages she cannot do so charmingly and this obviously holds her back in certain aspects of training to be a spy.
In fact Chahua has been known to be SO socially inept that she often fails to register any emotions at all in her acting lessons, unfamiliar with the requisite facial expressions and vocal fluctuations necessary to sell certain moods and stories required for the most socially forward portions of her future position in Marek's Lady Spy Army.   However, Chahua makes up for her social shortcomings with her incredible knowledge of practical combat and physical arts!
Able to leap several times her own height from a standing position, perform extremely technical acrobatics, fight barehanded or with any number of weapons and use the environment to her advantage, Chahua has never lost a single sparring match against any of the Twenty-Five.
She's never even been hit.
The Daughter Of The West never loses in a combat scenario and always succeeds progressively more difficult challenges presented to her.
Often times she is able to fight off entire fractions of The Twenty-Five in combat training and is used as a supreme example of "How Fighting Is Done."
She's SO dangerous in combat that the rest of the Twenty-Five, and even her own FATHER, regard her as "The One-Woman Machine Of Destruction."

Virtues & Personality perks

Chahua is, above all, honest and truthful. (Sometimes to a fault!)
While she wholly understands the necessity of lying to those who might bring trouble if they knew the truth, she has a hard time understanding the meaning behind white lies, grasping the importance of storied embellishment and sees no reason for making promises that she isn't sure she can keep.
Though it might sometimes be disappointing to those who wish she would show a bit more humor, Chahua is almost always entirely serious with those talking to her, allowing people to be entirely confident that there is no misunderstanding when getting information from her.
Quick and to the point, it is very easy for people to understand what Chahua has to say when she delivers a message and The Daughter Of The West is more than willing to provide extra information or details of the events she's relaying.
Though perhaps rigid in her speech and mannerisms, this trait has always come as a benefit during training and missions, as nobody ever has to worry about Chahua playing jokes or refusing to take something seriously in the heat of the moment.   While this is not something other members of Ta Tangia Enbria are lacking in, Chahua is perhaps better known than most for her stoic determination and unwillingness to quit even when she has every reason to believe that she will fail.
Even when surrounded by those who would bring death upon her end and thoroughly disabled by injury and exhaustion, The Daughter Of The West will continue to carry out her orders BEYOND the best of her abilities!
While sometimes it can get in the way of a longer and more nuanced mission, Chahua's stalwart inclination to never say die can carry shorter, more combat oriented missions through even the darkest of incidents.
Even when her fellow shadows are encouraging her to pull back, Chahua's stern resolve has made her a reputation of punching well above even her own lofty weight class, securing the confidence of her peers that even when things seem impossible, The One Woman Machine Of Destruction will not abandon them.

Vices & Personality flaws

Though Chahua regularly shows the world that she is nothing if not a serious, single minded practitioner of the martial arts and consummate academic who dedicates her every waking moment to self perfection... she hides a secret lust for all manner of vices deep within her ironclad exterior.
While she was growing up learning to fight, outsmart and innovate she knew very well that her peers played in the grass, had secret picnics, told stories and talked about boys.
Though she doesn't have any particular interest in the typical feminine activities of Kandia Culture, the Daughter Of The West DOES secretly desire to cut loose and discover what it's like to not care about things for a while.
She wants to get drunk, dance, listen to lively jigs and compete in sporting tournaments that outgoing members of the community tend to partake in whilst getting shitfaced in local establishments down in the city.
Dare she humor the thought... she thirsts for a good bar fight and to simply let go of all of the training and discipline that's been beaten into her since she was born...
IF ONLY for a night or two a year! (FAR too much to ask, she's aware!)   While she has certainly never indulged these sort of wild fantasies, Chahua still desires to.
But while she has largely given up on her secret dream to be a Party Girl, to enjoy a carefree life of indulgence and consumption, she has allowed herself to get a bit selfish and hold requirements over The Bringer Of Fertility that other members of The Twenty-Five could not in their wildest dreams consider getting away with.
Possessing some form of supernatural practice over The Founder returned, Chahua has set forth (in her mind) the terribly devious demand that a place be made for her to keep for her own at a peak of the nearby mountains that lie behind Shar Esaro in return for her assistance in the development of his own supernatural abilities.
Though others might not regard her requests as particularly heinous, it is something that the young woman largely considers a GREAT step over her proverbial boundaries and now deeply regrets, though she will not let anyone know of it.

Hygiene

While the Kandia are notoriously well bathed and groomed, Gume Zhu and thus Chahua take the practice of ritual bathing to an entirely new level.
Constructed in the Western Style, Gume Zhu possesses an intricate bathhouse complex built around a system of hot springs on her father's property where bathing oils and exotic soaps are made on site for the enjoyment of the customers of The House Of Zhu.
Chahua, growing up on such a complex as it was being built, is extremely fond of hot baths and regular bathing rituals.
She has all manner of pressed oils and lathers for her hair and body, often perfuming herself after bathing with mild plant powders from local foliage that leave her smelling pleasant and natural much of the day.   Every day Chahua brushes and rebraids her hair, though recently she has relied on use of The Rafef to do most of the work without the laborious and time consuming ritual of manually going through every lock of her calf length tresses.
Depending on the day she is expecting, Chahua might put her hair up in Pigtail buns or a single long braid that is left in a twist on the back of her head.

Social

Family Ties

Despite living most of her life as a recluse in isolation with her father, Chahua is keenly aware that Lee was a very important man before he was trapped in Kanda.   If Chahua was to secure a way to her family in The Western Kingdom and found a way to prove her relations the House Of Zhu would be honor-bound to take her in and do whatever they could to help her attain her goals to bring her father back to The Western Kingdom.
In strict hypothesis she would even be able to appeal to the Dragon Emperor under her father's own name and the family would sponsor a journey back to the Western Border of Eldin in hopes that she might be able to break the Decades Blockades.   Perhaps more importantly to her existence in Kanda, Chahua stays in sparse contact with her mother's family.
While she only writes back and forth to them every few months her grandparents and aunts have been fighting throughout her entire life to see her more often and consider her isolation and western obsession the fault of Lee and a dread bane on her development as a Kandia woman.
Despite her lack of seeing them and only meeting her grandparents a few times in her formative years, Chahua would be quickly accepted with open arms and no questions if she appeared on their doorstep some fifty miles to the north.
She would be welcomed into the family villa and demanded to eat, bathe and make herself comfortable.
Because of her position as a Daughter Of The West the entire family has come to accept that she fights and lifts and runs and does "manly things"
They have even come to accept that she may wear Trousers wherever and whenever she likes.
All they want is to see their firstborn grandchild and wish to get to know her!
The Family Enthiria especially, knowing that she has divine ancestry, have LONG wished to deify her in the family shrine as a gift to the House name.   By All Means, The House Of Zhu Should Have Become Their Dearest Ally, Not Their Most Familiar Stranger....

Religious Views

Chahua is the closest thing to an Atheist that you might find in the Core Of Kanda.
While she obviously believes in the spirits and deities of the world and has, indeed, interacted with them before, (She's even descended from one!) she does not put importance on the wills and desires of deities or spirits.   Her existence, she reasons, has little or even nothing to do with the gods.
She was created by her father, enhanced not through the will of the gods but through chemical and surgical alteration.
Her power comes from years of training, scientific experimentation, enhanced learning specialties and a collection of Western techniques passed down over the course of thousands of years before perfected by her Father's Ingenuity and her determination toward self perfection.
The CLOSEST thing she has to a god is her father and he has long established that she far outstrips him.
That, after all, is her purpose.   No god has ever smiled upon her for her determination and work ethic.
No deity has ever come before her and asked for her power or assistance.
She takes care of her own problem so no god has ever had reason to hear prayers from her lips.
And, Of Course... She Was Made To Fight And Kill A God... A God That Gains Power From Killing Other Gods   It Is Not The Dawn Age Anymore...
And until The Dawn Age returns, if that is ever to happen, Chahua is comfortable accepting that this is no longer the age of The Gods.
It is now The Age Of Mortals.

Social Aptitude

The perfect word for Chahua's social demeanor would be "Rigid."   In viewing herself more as an object with a purpose than a woman with a life, Chahua never bothered to get invested in proper courtesies and social combat.
To her the prospect of sculpting her body and mind into something that might one day destroy the Eldinia always took precedence over impressing the boys of some faraway court that she would never get the opportunity to visit.
She often doesn't speech unless spoken to, answers in simple, single sentences and is like to turn down anyone trying to talk to her out of hand.
Most consider her rude but, in actuality, she's just very serious and finds social interaction to be an uncomfortable experience that she has little understanding of or practice in.   Having so little in the way of social experience, Chahua handles social problems like a machine might: straight to the point, confident, absolute and lacking nuance.
Solutions are straightforward to her and she does not go out of her way to talk to people at length aside from Ginger Stasucto, with whom she has been known to get quite poetic when she thinks nobody else is listening.

Hobbies & Pets

Chahua's hobby is to train and fight!
When she is not tending to family business at the bathhouse, studying under Marek Of War-Saw, learning whatever she has been bid to or otherwise following the vast and deeply complex system of scheduled tasks set before her she prefers to train in combat skills, workout physically and otherwise work toward self perfection.
In no small part it is realistic to say that Chahua has no hobbies, all of her waking hours dedicated to the purpose given to her by her father.   Like many of The Twenty-Five, Chahua has a pet; specifically a standard Kandia Hound; perhaps 100 pounds large, somewhat overweight, remarkably lazy and getting a bit old.
His Name Is "Striker."   Despite his obvious laziness and casual demeanor, Striker is an extremely capable and responsive dog who will go from nearly comatose to full combat readiness in half a second if he hears the proper command.
He's incredibly sensitive to Chahua's desires and emotions, detecting her demeanor long before anyone else interacting with her.
He will usually respond to this with the appropriate actions of growling, barking, drooling or climbing on people, depending on what he thinks Chahua would want were she not so cold and distanced from her own feelings.
For this reason, many of the Twenty-Five affectionately refer to him as Chahua's "Feeling Heart Dog."
Universally beloved by her fellow Enbria, Striker is an ever popular sight at Marek's Manor, often lounging about his porch while the Founder's Bronzehound Wolfie plays with other, younger dogs.

History

Ginger And Chahua met while still very young, Ginger's Father having recently returned from smuggling himself across the breadth and depth of Eldin to study Western Kingdom Stoneworking while Chahua's father had become stuck in Kanda after the closing of the Strait Of Youth.
Seeking someone with even a modicum of understanding as to where he came from, Lee Zhu found himself becoming fast friends with Primus and, in turn, their daughters spent a lot of time with each other.
Slowly, being each other's only REAL friends, Chahua and Ginger grew so close that, for a time, they might have seen each other as sisters.
However, as they reached their teenage years, both Chahua and Ginger became closer and more intimate than ever before, realizing their fondness for each other had long since advanced beyond the merely platonic.   Now, having lived around each other for the entirety of their lives, Chahua and Ginger regard each other as soulmates; two who understand each other better than anyone else and belong in each other's arms.
While Chahua maintains her typical emotionlessness even around the one she regards as her beloved, Ginger is more than eager to shower her with affection whenever possible while Chahua's "Feeling Heart Dog" lets the rest of the world know that she appreciates the gesture.   Unable to be truly separated, both girls regularly consider each other in their plans for the future, for carrying on with their lives could not be possible without constantly thinking about one another.
While Ginger has long since considered how she could help incorporate Chahua into her family once her father returns to The Western Kingdom, Chahua has already made rather explicit plans with the powers that be to ensure that she one day has a private place in the mountains behind Shar Essaro to spend time with the one that she cares for most.

Wealth & Financial state

Chahua, just like her father, is not rich but hardly poor.
A "Filthy, Stinkin Middle Class" girl, she was afforded every educational luxury that her father could manage but otherwise lives the fairly humble lifestyle of a bathhouse owner's daughter; with just enough money to get her what she feels she needs without the capacity to overspend or exercise in decadent indulgences that would otherwise distract those with the mind to casually empty their coffers.   Having such a close connection to The House Of Stasucto has, of course, allowed her to save up a bit of spare coin on the side by modeling for Ginger's many fine statues... though all are quite sure that the redhead would insist upon Chahua's presence as the inspiration for her sculpting regardless of the price of The Daughter Of The West's commission.
