The Maid of Agrulia

The Maid of Agrulia (from the dwarven word agruulo for southern guard) is one of the more known taverns on the road from Rashor to Eastport and the most southern one on this journey. Like most buildings in this part of the continent, the Maid of Agrulia and the surounding buildings is made entirely out of wood from the Elderwoods. This inn was once built in the vicinity of the The Watchtower of Agrul and is close to hot springs in the most eastern cove of The Blue Bay

History

First constructed to accommodate the talian soldiers traveling to the north, the tavern soon became a popular place to rest for all people on this road. In the beginning it was tried to cultivate the land around the inn, but as most of The Amber Plains this land was also not fertile enough to support agriculture. But since the tavern is still close to Rashor, most goods needed could be easily imported from there.
Even after the watchtower was abandoned, the inn continued to flourish, as many traveled this road both north and south. At this time the hotsprings near the small settlement were discovered and brought even some fame to the Maid of Agrulia. During this time the tavern also earned its name for it having always at least one working lady, selling her company to lonely men on the road, present. This made the Inn a popular destination for the inhabitants of Rashor, as prostitution was forbidden there at this time.
Most of the tavern and its buildings was destroyed in the Windsong Rebellion, as one of the rogue wizards was caught here by the forces of the empire. But as a gift from the emperor for their help in stopping their foe, the inn was rebuilt by soldiers and workers paid by the empire itself.

The Situation Today

While the times of illegal prostitution are long gone in Rashor, a dancing girl is still working here for most of the year. This, the perfect location near the hot springs and the cheap food and housing still lead many travelers to rest here. As is it now officially part of the sphere of Rashor, the southern town protects the tavern from most crimes and thus most shifty persons avoid the Maid of Agrulia.
As the sea route to Eastport became more dangerous in recent years, more and more travelers and merchants use the road through the amber plains. This lead to a higher demand of beds in all the taverns on the road and the Maid of Agrulia recently started to expand by building new guesthouses.
