Time and Dates

Time and dates in Sturth are tracked in cycles, seasons, months, and days, all described in greater detail below:

Cycles

A single cycle represents a single rotation around the Lifelight, the twin stars of Sturth. However, unlike most habitable planets, Sturth's orbit is elliptical and the planet has little axial tilt, leading to severe seasonal differences and a long cycle length.   In total, a single cycle is 5 seasons, or 30 months, or 900 days.

Seasons

Seasons in Sturth vary with the planet's distance from warmth and also seem affected by ancient magics. For more details on the seasons, see Seasons of a Cycle.

Months

Since time immemorial, the peoples of Sturth have divided each cycle into identical chunks, called months. Different seasons last differing numbers of months, detailed below:     Each month comprises 30 days.

Days

A day in Sturth is 24 hours long, and has a similar day-night cycle as Earth. Due to a steady planetary rotation and little axial tilt, daylight and moonslight tend to be about equal each day, except during the height of demonbite or seething sky, when the lifelight is absent (in demonbite) or constantly present (for seething sky) for a period of approximately 1 month each.
