Castle Benevolenza/Fortress Sincerita Chirugeon's GP Headquarters

These two buildings function as the 'workshops' and also the head quarters where most of the guilds major works are done. The two buildings have a collection of enchanted teleport pads created by wizards that are interlinked allowing the two buildings to function as one even though they are more than a fortnights travel distant from one another. Both facilities have tightly controlled gates. The major secrets and formula for all current works reside within these two buildings. The secrets of production are considered a national treasure and a major line of defense for the whole republic.   Castle Benecolenza or Castle Goodwill in the common tongue, is lies to the north east of the republic. The castle used to belong to a Duke before the revolution and the in statement of the current republic. It used to be called Castle Sandalon for the first Duke of the family line during the previous kingdoms founding. That history was disfavored after the revolution and it sat empty for three decades before the new regime found a purpose for it. The training and housing of soldiers. The structure served well for that purpose. It's a massive three bailey castle with battlements, two large towers, and walls that stand forty feet high (12.2 m). The inner baileys have portcullis that divide them and control movement within the castle. There are a few smaller doors in the walls that allow access here and there but they are thick fire hardened oak that can have bars dropped down behind them to lock the doors shut.   During it's tenure as a military base and training facility the castle was called Patriot's Rest though the name never really stuck possibly because the soldiers tended to call it Parrot's Roost, because of all the repeating of commands that came from lower ranks to higher. When the Chirurgeon's Good Protectorate was appointed guild status and a new larger workshop was needed to put the first graduating students to work, the castle was given over since it made for a rather comfortable military base which was not desired by the commanders of the army. The castle has been converted and is now part laboratory and part surgery. Research and new works are also tested out here with new powers and physical changes being tested. As a result the old cells of the prison have been put back to work holding the prisoners who are imported as test subjects for the guild.   After twenty years in operation, just enough time by most peoples consideration to be just getting their legs under them the guild found itself short on space and long on demands for more protectorate warriors. They also had enough alchemists and surgeons that they didn't have quite enough space for everyone to work. However they needed all hands to try and meet the demands for the warriors they were creating.   This led the guild to seeking out other facilities for expansion. The four trading posts at far flung regions of the republic were found and built first. These were filled with warriors who had been completed and also for the intake of rare alchemical ingredients. The ruins of an old Elven fort were inspected and found to still have sound foundations with a stone quarry nearby but not much else for a few days travel. The Chirurgeon's Good Protectorate saw a chance to have things built to their expectation while still having an advantage on the security needed to keep their secrets. they purchased the fortress from the republic and began the fourteen year long process of rebuilding it. When it was finished they named it Sincerita or Fortress Sincerity. They announced it as a pledge to always be honest with the people of the republic and to remind their guild of what their mission was.   Fortress Sincerita, has forty foot outer walls just like Castle Benevolenza. The fort however is much more compact and stands a massive nine floors in height. Using the Hobgoblin method the structure is trapezoidal in shape with the walls slowly leaning in as it goes up making the ninth floor almost two thousand square feet (609.6 m) smaller than the first floor. The steep walls have been smoothed until there is nowhere for a 'bite' from a grappling hook or foot hold to be had between the stones. The roof of the complex is also used as an herb garden and roof top walking area for those who need a break. There are no baileys or outer areas other than the courtyard between the walls and the fortress. The interior is rumored to be both straightforward in lay out and labyrinthine.   The paperwork, ledgers, and the daily affairs fo the guild are run from these two buildings. The guild keeps strict rules on what papers are allowed to be kept in which buildings. This is a security measure. If the emergency security systems are activated, the teleportation rooms have collapsing ceilings that fill them with debris and also crack the enchanted tiles and stones. This separates the two and keeps half of the guild secrets away from the other half should one of the buildings be sieged or attacked.

Architecture

Castle Benevolenza was built in mixed architecture, the standard sign of human work. The main keep shows signs of kobold architecture and halfling. The outer walls are built mostly along the lines of dwarven work with an elven touch here and there. The body of the keep has the usual block and had geometric lines favored by kobolds and the towers are made with eight sided walls rather than round ones. The windows, doors, merlons and crenels, and gateways all have the arched and smoothed lines of halfling work with no hard angles or lines. The doors and gates are made carefully enough that like actual halfling work, there is no seam to speak of around the doors they fit so exactly into their frames.   Fortress Sincerita, is a bit mixed but not so much as the castle. The shape is Hobgoblin in design and execution but the care to smooth the stones until not crevice remained is a touch of halfling work. It also makes it much more difficult to climb the walls. There are no windows until the third floor of the fort making it even harder than usual to gain entrance from the outside without using one of the well guarded doors. The outer walls like Castle Benevolenza are mostly dwarven in design with inner arches that face not the top of the wall, but the outside to re-enforce them against attack. The elven touch comes at the corners where spell shielded areas have supplies for the guards on patrol as well as the sigils that glow when magic is being targeted on the walls.
