Vordakai

An ancient and powerful Iobarian Lich warlord. He was a massive skeletal cyclops adorned in robes, ribbons and jewelry. It is believed that he was able to use strange magic by cursing himself. At some point he acquired the Oculus of Abaddon, a powerful artifact which he made into his phylactery and used to summon and subjugate fiends. Due to his hubris and its supposed indestructibly, he carried it visibly on himself as a replacement for his eye. He was killed by The Constellation in 4712 in retaliation for abducting a village, and his phylactery was destroyed by Tristian. The events of his death were popularized by Keraak's retelling and immortalized in a festival complete with a dramatic reenactment.   Predating humanity, Vordakai used to rule over an ancient cyclops civilization in Iobaria and the lands of the Nomen Centaur. His empire fell before Earthfall. For more than a thousand years he operated out of his tomb in The Valley of the Dead.   Vordakai was resistant to cold damage and slightly resistant to physical damage (except for magical bludgeoning). As a wizard, he had a wide range of spells, including Counterspell, Dimension Door, Create Undead, Imprisonment, Paralyze, and Binding Circle. He was also able to attack with his claws, which could stop an enemy's heart temporarily or even permanently. The only known cure for his claw paralytic is panacea.

Abduction of Varnhold

Vordakai abducted the citizens of Varnhold through unknown means (mass teleportation or domination magic are suspected) and brought them to his tomb. Many Varnholdians were magically imprisoned in jars, others' brains were removed so Vordakai could consume them and gain their knowledge.   Vordakai appeared when The Constellation destroyed an enchanted engraving in his tomb. Proclaiming that he knew their names and that they had been coming for a long time, he attacked them relentlessly, and almost immediately Dominated Ragnar Garess into attacking Avarice Skjegge and Keraak. Kiede / Samuel marked him for death in an attempt to prevent him from coming back to life, but was promptly paralyzed.   Running low on spells, Vordakai retreated deeper in his tomb, but was ultimately pursued and killed. His phylactery was promptly destroyed as well.
