NWP: Fleet

Three Saiga-class World-ships are the core of the New Worlds Project Fleet. Between 30,000 and 40,000 sentients are housed in each, with an additional 15,000 to 25,000 colonists in stasis. The core of one Deepmind AI is located on each World-ship, acting as the connected processing hub of the Project. These Deepminds bears the name of historical thinkers of their cultures. Each world-ship is equipped as a home base for a major branch of the Project, and is accompanied by four Oceania-class Stellar Frigates. Not independently mobile, the Frigates can be tethered to the World-ships to provide sufficient mobility. For the first leg of the journey, there is enough tightly-packed hangar space between the three World-ships to house the entire fleet (almost 200 vessels of varying sizes), excluding the frigates which will be externally mounted.

The Oceania-class Stellar Frigates are an extension of their assigned World-ship. Each of the four frigates are outfitted for different operations. Much of their crew complement of 5,000 to 7,000 sentients are specialists dedicated to the operation. While passenger housing is available, space is limited. After arrival in the 61 Cygni System, the frigates' hangars will be filled to useable capacity. This primarily consists of 10 4A-class Scout ships each, with a crew of 4-6. These are the semi-permanent home of their assigned Forward Operating Team (Fours).

There is a single Diplomacy-class Courier, the O.L.Y.M.P.U.S., for use by the Directorate. Sleek and secure, this vessel is neutral territory, both politically and for Project branches.

There are a wide variety of other vessels for tasks such as transportation, passenger shuttles, or other operations related to the branch of the World-ship. These are officially assigned per World-ship, but are frequently in use by the associated frigates.

Fleet division:

• Upward-Vault-to-the-Stars: equipped with a sizeable aquatic biosphere, with a company of sentient Cetaceans and Octopode. Purpose: oceanic terraforming. Deepmind: Nielem of the Mind's Reach [octopode].
  • Celestial Haddock: primarily the forward operating base of the aquatic branch. Tasked with seeking the optimal planet for aquatic terraforming.

• The Roots-that-Grip-the-World is designed to terraform a planet for terrestrial habitation. A large contingent are Ogron horticulturalists, with teams of scientists at the ready to optimize the onboard flora and fauna specimens for the new environment. Deepmind: Sinezain Atmul [venetian].

• The Eternal Dawn is assigned the task of resource gathering and transportation. Well equipped for asteroid mining, material processing/refining, and remote delivery. Uniquely crewed primarily by Androids, large portions of the ship are normally not pressurized. Deepmind: Kibur 7-14 [android].
